I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Breton. As I said, I contacted them to buy a cover. They just did not have any in stock and weren't about to build just one. They told me I could either wait until the military bought more such tops, or I could order 45 (yes, 45!). The cargo cover kit I was...
I bought a cargo cover from John Johnson years ago; they were easy to work with, although I liked GMA better (unfortunately, GMA is out of business). I called Breton once, too, but was told they would only sell what they had on hand or if they could add your item onto a military run. If you...
I have purchased new screws at some point, probably from Memphis. There are probably other places that have them. I also have removed them and used a bench grinder with a wire brush wheel to clean them up. They cleaned up very nicely. That could be a thought until you buy the new screws.
I suggest some Power Service Diesel 911 (along the lines of what Daybreak recommended). Change the filters and go half and half (half 911 and half fuel) in the filter...then add the appropriate amount to your tank. The instructions are on the bottle.
I can't respond for Germany regarding your laws, but they are street legal in the U.S. They basically are commercial trucks that the military bought with some military-specific hardware.
It has been a while since I had an M1009, and even longer since I towed a trailer with it, but I don't recall the suspension settling any with an empty trailer hooked to it. If it did settle, it was just slightly. I agree with the other poster (quickfarms) that suggested your springs may be...
I believe the M172s have a removable king pin and the trailer should come with both. It has been years since I had one, but I think the king pin is accessible through a door on top above the king pin.
I recently started my M925A2 at 11 degrees Fahrenheit; it had been four degrees that night. The truck fired off on my second try. For what it's worth, I am only using two 6TLs. I hate starting my trucks when it is that cold, but I needed to use it to recover a crate.
I asked in the other thread if his sprag worked. I never got an answer. John Winslow, a longtime truck dealer in NC (God rest his soul), used to tell me that a good portion of his 5 tons with sprags were bad. This often comes from allowing the truck to roll forward in reverse or reverse in a...
A friend once drove an M923A2 with an air leak and it burned out his compressor. Comparing air leaks is like comparing most things without seeing them.
Do you have two vehicles and two sets of jumper cables? Jump start the truck. As long as your batteries are not totally dead, and it doesn't sound like it, it should start. Then, move the truck to a location where you can troubleshoot/charge/replace/repair.
