    Guilty Pleasure

I know that Dodge has had lots of problems with their automatics behind the Cummins engine. That engine is a "beast" and can make some crazy torque ! Since Dodge cannot use the "Allison" transmission like GM can, their forced to use their less then desirable automatic or a pretty good manual...

Deuce belt driven power steering complete

Hey Bill how's your steering radius ? Full right to full left ? Any problems with the steering stops ? The only other problem I see would be the belt. Since it must turn the air-compressor and power steering pump that is a "Lot" of torque on that belt. Any problems with it spinning under load ...

    M35A3 Transmission Temp

I would suspect a bad gauge. Your temp should be around 160 to 180 at idle and when pulling hard you should see around 180 to 220 tops.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I agree with your diagnoses CUCVRUS. I had a CV joint take out the back of a TH400 when it froze. It was a "non" greasable unit so there was nothing that could be done. I've since seen this happen many times. The CV joint can freeze extremely fast too. One day your driving normally and then the...

    Bonedoc's M35A2 modification thread

I got into trouble with that years ago. I installed air-craft landing lights in the back of my 1972 Chevy truck. All I need do was flip the switch and POW ! I lite up the road behind me ! I only used it a few times on ass's who wouldn't turn off their high beams. Though the last time I did that...

    Torsen Differential

Was this a "friction locker" differential you had ? You mentioned a "burnt clutch" . That would only be used in a friction type locker. A Detroit locker or a Torsen Locker has no clutches.

    Injection pump oil hose

Yes Chris. Do you have any more of the two way fittings left ? I could use two if you have them. Let me know OK ?

    Guilty Pleasure

That's what I thought to. Then after we paid off the house that freed up enough money to justify buying the new truck. This will be the last new vehicle I will ever own and also it is the first new vehicle I have ever owned ! I have always used old vehicles to drive to work, while the wife got...

    Guilty Pleasure

Most all manufactures have tried to get out of manuals for some time now. The cost of repairs is extremely high for any manual transmission and with all the trucks coming out with these high mileage warranties the manufactures have had to eat a lot of transmissions from people who don't know how...

    Guilty Pleasure

Sure. As we all know the 6.5 diesel is a good engine, but it lacks power. So since mine had suffered a severe fire destroying all the electronics I decided to scrap everything and start over. First off the 383HT is one fine engine ! It can tow my 28ft trailer fully loaded with supplies and water...

My M35A2 BUILD (I know there has to be thousands of these by now)

Totally agree. Parts are just getting more expensive as time goes on. So keep using the ones that work and store up your good spares. I have three new pumps stashed away for the day when mine start crapping out. I have two pumps, one in each tank. They are new, but when I'm on my trip and they...

    M135 M211 2 speed transfer case mod

You know I could really use a good detailed breakdown of what you did. With lots of pictures ! If I ever get the chance to rebuild a M135, I would want to modify the transfer-case like you did.

Looking real good there "bonedoc" !

    Torsen Differential

The "Torsen-Gleason" differential was designed in 1959. It didn't see mass usage though until the late 1980's through early 2000's. The military was one of the first to nab onto the idea. They have used it for years now. The biggest problem with them is cost. They are much more expensive then...

    Locker swapping.

That makes more sense. ARB is the best if your truck see's both on and off-road use.

    Locker swapping.

Then you can only use the front axles off-road then. If you try and use the fronts on pavement you will have problems. I have had to use my fronts on slick pavement before so I would never use welded spyders.

My M35A2 BUILD (I know there has to be thousands of these by now)

You will find most threads get taken over pretty fast ! We try and keep it on topic, but hey guys talk.

    Guilty Pleasure

I was under the impression that all trucks where made in Mexico. Now I see mine was made in Flint. Are all Chevy trucks then made here in the states ?

Engine restore oil additive and the multifuel

Oh, just to make things interesting. On my new truck the Chevy shop recommends I use a good fuel additive to help the injection pump and injectors .

Engine restore oil additive and the multifuel

So Valvoline straight 40W oil is the one then. Looks like they make it for NAPA too. I really don't like using a straight weight oil like that in a Diesel that see's a lot of climate change like we do up here. I'll stick with my Synthetic Rotello and some ZDDP additive for now.
