    818 sucking air, tried alot

10-4, Where would I find some of this hard plastic line? I've honestly never seen it at any parts stores but it could be in the "back room". I'm sure I can match the O-rings pretty easy at my local Napa. I've got a great part's guy there and that's not an advertisement. It only works in...

    818 sucking air, tried alot

Hard to push is accompanied by 60 or above on the gauge. It's not bad below that.

    818 sucking air, tried alot

I'm currently working on an M818 that I recovered out of Thomasville, GA. Anyhow, I replaced all the rubber lines to the selector valve and the main rubber line from the filter housing to the IP. It ran great for a little while, idled for once and was somewhat responsive to the throttle. Now...

    $3500 M1008s??

I bought one in excellent condition with only 2100 miles on it for $2500 a year ago. Try that now. The paint, the interior, all of looks as if it sat in a time machine in a cave in Norway. Oh yeah, it did!!! If that thing went to auction now, it'd kill me trying to get it. They're nice...

    Tow Bar Pins - Updated

I'd like to get feet for my MRAP Oshkosh towbar as well. I've got a good Medium towbar complete and it works fine but I'd like to justify buying the Square Tube towbar that won't work on anything in my current fleet. It's a beast and rated at 83,000 pounds with the 1 1/2" pins. I'm sure that...

Deuce Engine years of manuf. by producer

Mine has a NEW in 92 (not rebuilt) Hercules. From what I've read on here, it was one of the last 5,000 that the government was allowed to by due to the EPA working diligently to send the multifuel into the graveyard.

    M920 headlights got brighter :-)

Great upgrade. I love the 7" Trucklite's that I put on my Deuce. In fact, only truck at the 2010 GA Rally to sport a pair and when I came off the trails at night, everybody wanted to know about them. Try some night pics!!!!

is there a difference in injectors

By those claims, you'd be turning roughly 32/3300 rpm's to go an even 70 MPH in a Deuce. I've read of issues of running them a constant 2600 rpm. Who is right? I've limited myself to 45 to 50 MPH to try and keep this old thing from spitting a rod out the side. My old motor chief told me that...

    Towbar Incident Report

I flat towed an M818 behind a M936 yesterday at 55 mph on flat ground and slowed down to 40 on some upgrades that slowed me down. Yes, I had chained the towed truck to the pulling truck and yes, it all went good. I've towbared dead trucks for both personal and National Guard use. The pins...

M818 from Thomsaville, Ga to Cleveland, Tn

Truck is suffering a typical air primer system leak. It'll run on it's own above about 1500 (can't verify, the tach cable is gone) but sounds about right. Now the really bad news, No high range in the transfer case. It'll move in low range but will not engage in high range at all. I'll check...

M818 from Thomsaville, Ga to Cleveland, Tn

Truck starts and runs with either, won't run on the fuel. Time to drop the driver's side step and check the tank select valve hose's as it won't prime either. I'll also bypass the stock fuel system to the IP and check it that way this weekend. Oh well, I'm tired, it's home and it's nice to...

M818 from Thomsaville, Ga to Cleveland, Tn

Paperecu, very true statement. It's taken till today for mine and his schedule to line up and that meant me taking a day off from work (That's what leave is for). Anyhow, enjoy the pics for those who like to look at this kind of stuff. Only took about 5 hours and $150 dollars worth of diesel...

    M816 Cummins egine mods needed

The 800 series wreckers are about as basic as they come. I doubt you could put a jake brake on it without spending a ton, an exhaust brake may work but I've not seen one on a N/A Diesel. The transfer works fine as is, it'll jump in if you're spinning the rears which you shouldn't on a truck...

    Incurence for a M35A2C

Jimma, can you tow a trailer and leave the truck out in the rain with Haggerty? If so, I need to switch.

    Incurence for a M35A2C

JC Taylor seems like cheap insurance but I don't have a lockable garage and pull my M105 anywhere I take the Deuce. I'm stuck with paying 25 a month for GEICO but I'm covered even when towing a 5 ton truck behind it!!! I'll pay now rather than later and make sure I'm covered worse come to...

How fast does a M1008 go?

If you're thinking it's a Gear Vendors overdrive unit then you would be incorrect, it's just a good clean looking stock drivetrain.

    Wth?Deuce making to much power?

I've turned my fuel up without Pyro gauge. It blow's a very nice cloud of smoke, pitch black when hitting the throttle at idle. I've got a boost gauge and it's never hit more than 15# on a heavy pull dragging a truck out of the base I work at. Your truck is on fire to put up 40 plus #'s of...

    9 x 20 tires

Gimpy, While I like my 831's, I'd love to have a set of 395's if they were on HEMMT wheels or equivalent. We should have discussed this at the GA Rally last year but then again, there's always this coming year. FWIW, these have less than 600 miles on them. They certainly look alot tougher...

    M817 Dump Truck Project Begins

Dean, On the 800 series, I've seen alot more air leaks from the hard plastic line going to the primer pump on the dash. I often bypass that by welding a small bead in place of the line going to it. the NHC pump sucks pretty well and as long as I fill the filter can on a fuel filter change...

    Algea in the system??

I've not personally run into this product. If the truck was on an Active Duty post all it's life, it likely had JP-8 in it which I don't believe gives as much trouble. If it spent it's last years as a National Guard truck, it's straight diesel that has sat for who knows how long. If it truly...
