Remember, diesel fuel is made from distilled crude oil. Once the "volatile" liquids vapor off over time, your left with the basic crud. Asphalt ! Well not really asphalt but close !
I would spray it down first with a good penetrating lubricant. Then if that fails to loosen it you can take it apart. I prefer to use "Tri-Flow" spray. It is a "Teflon" based lubricant that can really get into tight spots.
Hopefully soon I will be rebuilding one of mine. I have 5 core transmissions already (two more on the way) and several rebuild kits with lots of extra parts like shims and bands and such. I used to rebuild these back in the day, but now the parts supply has all dried up and you need your own...
"Eriks" sells the "official" military rubberized 14 gauge wire. I've bought and used over 700 ft from them so far. Good stuff. I also use "No-Oz-Id" grease on all my connections. It has worked pretty good so far.
Wouldn't be the first time I lived out of my truck. When I went to trade school, I lived in my truck until I could afford a place. In the Marines I had to sleep under my issued truck when I was in the field. In the Marines you got used to "repurposing" other vehicles parts even if it is in use ...
Hey guys, Elk1111 needs an injection pump. Does anyone have one they would sell for a reasonable price to him ? I know some of you guys have a stock pile of them laying around.
Boy I hate to tell you, but your going to have to completely rebuild your brake system. You will never be able to trust the rubber seals again in either the wheel cylinders, or calipers or the master cylinder. They ALL must be replaced.
Sorry.
Actually the injection pump, along with many other parts would have been changed out by now. This is a 1970 year model right ? After 48 years the original pump would more then likely have already failed several times by now. As would the transmission, a couple of differentials and other assorted...
What he said ! You don't want to experience a "run-away" diesel engine ! It's one of the scariest things I have had happen to me in all my years working on trucks. It's like standing next to a live "grenade" !
I'm not sure about the HD 90113A fitting. There was not many of the "G" style pumps made for the deuce. You would do better trying to fix your old Hydraulic Head or buy a newer style injection pump. If you do decide to buy a different pump I would be interested in buying your old pump off you. I...
What I would do now is go to NAPA and buy some piston seals in bulk. Last time I bought some they where still made in the USA with quality material. The Chinese seals I've found fail after only a year or two. The cylinder and springs are good quality though. I bought several boxes of "bulk"...
Did you use new "polyurethane" cab mounts ? I went with them years ago and I'm glad I did. No more squeaks and squeals
and the cab sits better then it ever did.
Could you give us a drawing ? I'm having a hard time trying to wrap my head around this idea. Words are great but pictures and drawings are better !
Thanks.
