Are you wanting to "eliminate" the heated intake manifold ? Yes hot coolant flows around the air intake manifold, but since it is a short distance I don't think it heats-up the air all that much. Since your running a "Turbo" your flow will be basically the same no matter how you change the...
The "OP" was referring to engine braking, not how the shifts are controlled. Though your correct about the vacuum. Actually it is vacuum and governor pressure that controls all shift points. That and throttle position for downshifting (the switch on the throttle lever) .
Thanks Marcus, that's good to know that a heart-attack doesn't need to be the end of things !
I do know that I will be changing my eating and exercise habits though. I guess it was God giving me a slap up-side the head to change my bad habits !
Thanks Marcus for the encouraging words. I've been kinda depressed lately after learning I had a heart-attack last week.
I had to go for my regular check-up and told the doctor it felt like a 200Ibs man was sitting on my chest. So he performed an EKG. The nurse ran out of the office and the...
That is totally correct. The used oil will have millions of "micro-particles" that will actually destroy the injection pump. Think micro sand-blasting. Using a centrifuge is the "only" right and economical way I have ever heard that will clean-up the used oil for use with injectors and an...
The TH400 doesn't allow for compression braking in the "D" (drive) position. If you want the engine to help with that you need to manually shift into second gear. The "intermediate" band only applies in manual second, otherwise your using the "one-way" sprag which will "Not" hold the engine...
I like your name for the west coast. Yes it is "left" out here, though there are a few "right" minded people still around. Also almost any military vehicle sells at a much higher price out here then anywhere else. Who knows why.
Actually machine shops use a power "hone" to fit parts like this all the time. I put this out there to help those who don't have the extra cash laying around to spend on a tool they might never use again. Using a brake hone with patience and care "will" give you excellent results. In fact the...
That was part of the problem I had earlier this year. Like I mentioned before, I was finally able to get the "Retail" store that Deway Electronic sells through. The problem was the "insane" prices they wanted !!! Maybe once they stop selling to the military they will start selling to the public...
Thanks. I just ordered a set.
Funny when I tried to get to Baldor Parts it keep sending me to the new company site that bought them out. Did you use Google or some other search engine ?
Actually not as long a time as you would think. Also using a good "cutting" oil prevents the stones from clogging with the brass. I've used this technique many times. Just recently used it on one of my steering gears after replacing the sector shaft bushings. As far as the "hourglass" effect...
Having replaced hundreds of truck king-pins I can honestly say I never found one that didn't need reaming after installing the new bushings. So go "on-line" and buys some cheap reamer that will expand to the size you need and gently ream out these bushings. I have bought some reasonably priced...
