I too have thought that would make a great place for a fuel tank ! It also would spread out the "load" of the fuel over a greater area. The problem or one of the problems would be access to it if for any reason it needed changing or repair. You would be forced to remove the bed to get in there...
Your lucky then. Honestly that much current needs it's own relay to be safe. Considering the minimalist attitude of the military when designing and building this truck, if they thought it would be safe to eliminate the starter relay they would have.
But as you say "your mileage may vary" .
Yes, I do believe you do have everything needed for a total restoration cucvrus" !!! Of course most of us do not have the luxury of having tons of old CUCV's around ! Yes, I am a bit jealous !
In fact the last of my old vehicles left the property three days ago. Parting with my old 1944 IHC...
Oh trust me, I have some hairy off-road adventures to tell !!! I was off-roading well before it became a fad. I still have this old photo of me standing on the roof of my truck. There was this "small" water hole (about 12ft in diameter) I just had to drive through. I didn't know it was 6 feet...
I was thinking of getting rid of mine. Now that I know they are rare maybe I'll clean it up and reuse it. Though the right rear corner got hit by an excavator bucket a few years ago. kind of caved in that section a bit.
I'm not to concerned about knocking off these drain valves since their above the front axle. Now if I lose the front axle then I might worry, but if I do happen to lose the front axle then I believe I have more important concerns to worry about !
The fuel tanks are a totally different story...
I couldn't tell if you where joking or not. At work we had to be fast doing oil changes especially when performing "inspections" , and the fastest and cleanest way to dump oil out of a filter is to punch a hole in the bottom or in this case the top of the filters. I did replace them with new WIX...
Yes, you can get some junky parts from LMC. You also can get some pretty good parts. It all depends. There are some OEM parts which you cannot find anymore and you will be forced to use LMC. I've replaced "hardware" for items I bought from LMC with quality aftermarket products, just like those...
You need to use the "plate" that has two threaded holes for the reservoirs. It is used instead of the plastic housing. The standard "plastic" housing will not work.
Here's a picture of mine.
Changed the oil and filters today. Really glad I have the "FUMOTO" quick drain valves installed. Makes it so much easier and no mess.
I put a hole in the top of the filters and then wait a awhile for the oil to drain out. That way there is almost no oil to drain all over the engine. Then I...
OK, it seems I misunderstood the original question. I thought he was eliminating all copper tubing. Now there are a few "Flare" fittings that will need adapters to the DOT tubing, but most of the copper lines are not flare type. The fuel tank connector is an flare fitting and I had to buy a...
