WTB: Fiberglass headboard for 5 ton cargo

MBA, I would consider a wooded headboard. Can you PM me a pic or two? I was just thinking that the fiberglass is better for obvious reasons...but it also is better because the paint actually sticks to it. I figured I'd aim high since I will have to pay to have it shipped. I am would definitely...

    Finally got a wrecker.

I love the wreckers. I own an M936A2. As crazy as this sounds, though, the wrecker is one of the worst vehicles with which to tow (unless you are towing with the M984 HEMTT wrecker...or possibly the MTVR wrecker). The M543/M62, M816 and M936 are not very efficient tow vehicles because they...

    Some of my collection

Absolutely outstanding! Thank you for sharing these pics. If you need any detail shots, I am sure the guys on this list will be more than willing to help out! My suggestions for future models: USMC MTVR MW24C Case loader Freightliner M917A1 dump (my true dream truck!)

WTB: Fiberglass headboard for 5 ton cargo

Does anyone know where I can find one or more? They are different from the headboards for an M35A2.

    how much is it worth

If everything works, $2,500 is not a bad price. I agree with the posters who suggest that you should see if you can get it running fairly easily. If you can see that the truck runs well, drives and stops, and the dump bed raises and lowers properly, that truck is DEFINITELY worth $2,500 or...

    deuce power steering kit

They went cheaper than I thought, but still will be over $600 once shipping and the dreaded site tax are added (8.75% tax...that is correct...OK state tax and OK city tax). That means the prices are actually 18.75% higher plus shipping. I think you guys still did OK, though. It was way too...

M109 brackets, what are they for???

I'll defer to Dave, then. I was only repeating what I was told by a few guys and it seemed to make sense, but admittedly I never saw it in print...and it sounds like he has seen the spotlight thing in print...so I stand corrected. Thanks for clarifying things.

M109 brackets, what are they for???

I never heard the spot light thing before. Could be...just never heard that before. However, I've spoken to a bunch of guys who have been around a while and the cargo cover use was what I was told. I am unsure why they would need so many of them up and down both sides and in a high and low...

M109 brackets, what are they for???

I have been told they were meant to hold some sort of bow kit so that a cargo cover could be affixed over the van body. This was done so the truck could be disguised as a cargo truck. The van truck was a more desirable target than a cargo truck. The same thing goes for the fuel truck and...

    A3 pics

Here are a few of my truck...though they are not that detailed. I hope they help a bit.

    cargo covers in Tacoma, WA

I believe CUCVFAN said he had one for sale. I believe he posted a link to his eBay auction. From the looks of it, it appears to be in mint condition and has the bows with it, too.

    Fort Meade M1008 Recovery

Nice looking truck. Good luck with it. Glad it was nothing serious...or costly...to repair! :-D

Looking for M35A2 canvas cargo cover

Personally, I'd rather have the bows for an additional $150 or so. New bows are almost non-existent. Even conservatively estimating that the new bows are worth $35 apiece means the cargo cover is worth more than $375...at least in my book. I would buy them at that price all day long. I can...

    Importing a Deuce to Canada?

I believe Dave Newman (Eastern Surplus) has a license to sell to Canadian citizens. Dave advertises on this site. Good luck!

Dudley, come drive my truck this week so you can see for yourself. Maybe, you will like it.

    M818 front axle not engaging

Agreed...Winslow replaces them with the t-case still in the truck. Not a fun job from what he tells me.

    M35a3's whos got one?

It is DEFINITELY not a 60 MPH truck. 50-55 is all you'll get...if you want to keep your motor intact. I have put quite a few miles on my truck since I got it several months back. Just this past weekend I put another 135 or so miles on it and the weekend before I put another 100 or so on it...

    How many left?

Personally, I would suggest that people not wait until the last minute to get their truck(s). I happen to believe that the end is sooner than most think, but consistent with what Mark stated. I don't believe the next batch are the last, or even the batch after that. However, this has to come to...

    deuce power steering kit

I have air-assist power steering on my M35A3. It is OK...seriously, it is only OK. I would NEVER spend serious money for it. I am not sure what I would be willing to spend, but it is less than half of retail. As someone else already said, it is really not power steering. It almost feels...

    M818 front axle not engaging

Bad sprag. About $300 and a day's worth of labor. John Winslow, a long time dealer, tells me that about one in three M809 5 tons has a bad sprag...at least according to the ones he buys.
