I would verify the calipers are free to slide on the mounts and I would disassemble the piston and verify nothing is binding. But I would also wait to see if anyone else chimes in on your thread.

My best guess after thinking about this for quite a while is the smoking gun is the calipers. Either the piston is binding randomly or the caliper is binding such that it can't slide and only one pad is allowed to apply.

Is the skidding tire on the front or rear axle. What are the caliper pistons made of. Heat could cause them to seize in the bores. Are the calipers free to slide easily.

Scorpion looks pretty decent.

Is the pump actually pumping? It makes a “cathunka cathunka” sound.

Need more info on what you plan to do. Most of the time the GP folks will push your truck onto your conveyance. When my "won't start" LMTV from Bragg got here on the drop deck, two hot batteries and she fired right up. Yours might be out of fuel or plenty of other issues.

Agree with above. HOWEVER, before you blow up a new or repaired controller, make sure you ohm out all the circuits. Follow the Allison manual on how to do this.

I have run into that situation before. When you try to sandblast the rust out, the sand just packs in there and the rust doesn't get abraded away. What I did was beat on the frame with a sledge hammer which tends to pulverize the rust, so you can blow it out. Then I sandblasted with fine sand...

GMC's with automatic are typically the M135 Cargo with single tires and M211 Cargo with duals. Again advanced age of 69 years old needs everything gone through.

Air compressor. See how your truck still has the platform behind the running board. The air compressor was stupid heavy.

Take it to Houston Truck Parts on Wayside and chances are you will walk out with a new one.

My opinion: The M35A2 is how you want to go. Parts are a phone call away, GMC parts are getting harder to find every day. The GMC is what 76 years old? Needs EVERYTHING gone though extensively. Find a bad engine M35, repower it, bob it, and go hunt. GMCs are for museums nowadays.

Heath Diesel and other vendors have the non-computer controlled wastegate. Wow you have a lot of patience to fix that rusty mess. Trucks like that I part out without a second thought.

Is that solenoid working good? Looks like it was full of water. The terminal on the cable could have corrosion between the wire strands and the terminal. Will cause your issue also.
