Snap-On sells a set of wrenches that are bent almost actually like that. They are called pump wrenches also ! I bought a set years ago when I was trying to remove a pump on an old Detroit Diesel. The Snap-On man had just come on the property (they always come once a week) as I was failing at...
I also played with using electrolysis to clean up a slave cylinder.
I just use the sand blaster to clean-up the air-pac housings. Then a little honing and all is good !
If you like using an engine that pours out belching clouds of smoke that's great. Most people don't like that, and in fact most towns and cities don't like it either. I have never seen a "diesel" engine that had rings so rusted it froze the pistons to the bore, loosened up and run with just a...
Usually if an engine is that frozen and you even get it to eventually turn over, the rings and cylinder are shot. The amount of rust that it takes to freeze the pistons like that will ruin rings. They will never seal properly. It also usually leaves good tracks in the cylinder bore which leak...
What kind of price point would we have here ? The ones "Eriks" has sells for $100.00 an end. They are solid steel "Heim" joints. Yes expensive, but would last a lifetime. If you could come up with another alternative that would be as strong as the Heim joint and be cheaper then I think you could...
Before you tear into the injection pump, how is the fuel pressure coming out of the booster pump ? There should be a very strong stream coming out. If not then remove the side plug and clean out the check valve. You could have had some garbage get into the pump.
The second major difference I found is the "quality" of the castings between the earlier and later style housings. In pictures 1 & 2 you can see a hole in the threaded area of the casting. This will greatly diminish the strength of this mounting pad. In pictures 3 & 4 you can see inclusions in...
I've been on a steering gear modification project for awhile now. So I collected a bunch of steering gears. A few things I found out might interest the community here. One; there are two models of steering gears. Picture one shows them side by side. The one with the tall mounting pad is the...
That's all I use around here. The NATO fuel can. I buy them from that exporter in Germany. He now has a fuel can totally made from Stainless Steel ! It sells for $200.00 though. I still might buy one just for "grins and giggles" !
I have 8 or 10 "Scepter" water cans. I keep forgetting where I...
That's only 8 cars ! I had over 20 and my best friend who lives next door has over 50 ! I still have 8 trucks I need to get rid of and 5 dozers. I only have 8 generators now. Five work and the others are parts units.
Are you telling us you haven't changed out the fuel filters yet ?!?!?!?!!!! Honestly that is the "FIRST" thing you should have done . Replace the filters and then if you still have problems let us know. Replace all three !
Well if it runs great then don't mess with it ! But for future reference that plug is an interference fit plug. Think cylinder head valves to seat fit.
Yes I found several. At the Turbo rebuild shop in Seattle I had several conversations with Xander (short for Alexander) the shop foreman. He gave me several leads on turbos that would fit and make good power for our Multifuel. I posted them a few months back. I don't remember them off hand. I'm...
The reason most don't mention it, is that it is not used on all models. There where several different models of air-pacs in service for our deuce's brake system. I mentioned it in one of my rebuild threads for the air-pac. I just bought some 'O' rings from the big 'O' ring supplier in Kirkland...
