4Ao32 Standard engine powered genset CARBURATOR rebuild kit source

Yep, museums are a good source of information. There is a museum in Belgium that has the TM manual that I've been looking for, for years now. It's TM9-8623 . Of course they don't want to sell it to me ! At least I know one copy has survived.

    3 Phase to Single Phase

No kidding ! No one even mentioned the phase deferential between the three hot lines. If he had a 240 circuit there (say a dryer or stove) and it tried to use power from those two legs of the three phase generator it would not go well. There is so much more to converting a three phase generator...

Thanks for the information on the meter Ryan. I just ordered one.

Do we have an official Bobbed Deuce picture thread? If not, here it is! Post em!

I believe a lot of us would love a wider cab in the deuce. Especially those of us who have added a few pounds since our days in the military ! I should tell you the story of how I had three people in my deuce (including me) . This female Captain insisted she ride in the lead truck (mine) . She...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Now that you've replace all 12 torque rod ends with the newer style "Heim" joints, you should never have to do this job again ! I laughed when you said it took you 5 hours to do the job. At my age and with all my body parts failing it would take me five hours just to get the wheels off now ! I...

    Brake Fluid Flush

Dot 5 doesn't need replacing, but it needs a little "cleaning" every few years to remove any moisture or "crud" that has gotten into the system. What I mean with a little cleaning is to either have someone pump-up the brakes or have the power bleeder connected and go to each bleeder and allow a...

Can't figure out why it won't start

Due to the fact that the piston does not want to stay at top dead center on the cam. It rotates the shaft causing the timing marks to move slightly. Remember the injection pump shaft does not make a "physical connection" to the engine. It is turned by the advance system weights. So it can and...

Any quality diesel fuel system cleaners?

Where are you buying "Jet-A" fuel from ?

Any quality diesel fuel system cleaners?

Yes you are lucky. Thanks for rubbing it in !!! I cannot remember the last time I saw 50 cetane fuel up here. Ever since the Feds mandated that "all" diesel fuel sold must meet the Ultra Low Sulphur standard, that dried up my off-road diesel supply.

Any quality diesel fuel system cleaners?

Your right about winter fuel (diesel #1) having less cetane levels as summer fuel (diesel #2) . It also does less lubricating as they remove the "paraffin" from the fuel to prevent gelling at cold temperatures. So not only does "winter" fuel have less cetane levels, it also has less lubricating...

    GM's first Diesel Engine

A while back someone mentioned that the 6.2 was GM's first 4 stroke diesel engine. I said it wasn't but could not remember the engines name. Well here it is. The Toro-Flow started development in 1953 and was put into production in 1964. It also used a American Bosch PSJ injection pump...

Any quality diesel fuel system cleaners?

Well, no. First you need to understand the "cetane" level needed to operate diesel engines efficiently. Most agree that a cetane rating of 45 to 55 is the perfect range for most all diesel engines. In todays "ultra low sulpher" age the average cetane level is 40 to 45. That lower level is due to...

Can't figure out why it won't start

Actually the red mark will align actually where it is suppose to. It is the spring pushing on the piston that causes the red mark to "fly" by the other mark. If you where to leave out the piston spring you would see what I mean. Of course it would not work if you did that  .

    servicing deuce injectors

Also, the manual suggests probing the hole/s in the injector tip with a .025 wire. I happened to have a tip cleaner for my wire feed welder. I found its smallest wire (.015) works quite well, but I cannot seem to get a larger wire in the holes, so i am hopeful that .015 will work fine...

Any quality diesel fuel system cleaners?

Used that trick for years now. If you know your going to rebuild an engine, then you throw in about 2qts (20% of the engine oil) of Dexron II or Dexron III in it. Run the engine for a few days , then drain. Really helps in the clean-up. We also used to use "Rislone" engine cleaner, though I...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Now I'm no fan of the "gov-lock" by any means, (I have had to rebuild enough of them) but it will work fine as long as you drive it like it was meant to be driven. That means no crazy rock climbing with a blown Chevy, romping on the "go pedal" like a raped ape ! They will explode under those...

    Leaking frost plug

You cannot tap the hole as there is material just below the opening. You need to install some "brass" 3/4" freeze plugs. At least I believe their 3/4" . Could be 1" . It's been a few years since I changed mine.

So you have to be on "facebook" then ? I don't do Facebook, but my wife does. I'll see if she will go and look and see what's going on for me.

So I'm sure you know "Brad" . I've bought a lot of stuff from him. My brother also lives there in Yelm. So I'm in for a get-together.

    Bead Breaker

I totally agree with "gimpyrobb" here. Get the hydraulic one. You will regret it if you go with the manual one. I even used my impact wrench on it, though your not suppose to. It was still a pain in the A$$ ! Go with the hydraulic !
