    No start after running hot.

No, you can start the engine with the cab tilted. Also to answer an earlier question, when the master warning panel says "stop" that is just a suggestion, there is no electrical interlock. But if you don't you will quickly regret it.

M1078 – clutch fan not engaging.

    No. Air pressure DISengages it.

    No start after running hot.

If the ambient temps are above 40 or so the fan will need to come on. You will need to diagnose this issue. The TM with diagnostic fault tree is located in the TM section of this website.

    winch clutch lever

There is no fishing out the broken piece. You are looking at a complete disassembly. Numerous threads here on doing that.

    No start after running hot.

This problem will resurface. Never drive anywhere in a FMTV without tools and a voltmeter/ohmmeter.

    No start after running hot.

Do you have a voltmeter with you? Is the troublesome thermal switch on the starter bypassed? Look for two small wires that go into a module on the starter not associated with the solenoid. If it's connected still, cut the wires off and twist together. Does the PDP click when you press the...

    Converting a Hmmwv to 12volt

Certainly don’t replace a GEP engine with a GM engine and certainly don’t use the computer controls the GM 6.5 came with. Put 12 volt solenoids in your existing injection pump.

    Deuce crank pulley wobble/loose

Got a multifuel deuce in and crank pulley/harmonic balancer totally loose. For anyone that has run into this before, is this a busted crankshaft? Before I tear into it just wondering.

Slow cranking - no start; need advice.

Feel all the electrical connections for heat after cranking attempts. Hot connections mean high resistance which will slow the starter way down.

M1114 Power Steering Pump Replaced and Have Spares!

Sure put a for sale ad with prices. Mine is not great. This is the non-GM pump, that has the remote reservoir, right?

    Mystery box?

The nsn on the box comes back to the vehicle end item. P/O means part of. FP means foreign packed (I think) F means For Truck Utility etc. I THINK your crate contains the BII or OVM (basic issue items or On Vehicle Material) such as the jack and tool bag with tools. This crate would have...

Check your Driveshaft phasing on FMTVs!!

Sure enough got a new unit in and look at the front ds! I see this again and again! I guess they forget to mention this in 91B school!!!

    M1123 ignition/start switch

Make sure none of the three are touching anything. Connect the batteries. Measure for 24 volts in all three wires. The hot one is the wire that goes to the battery. Touch that wire to one of the others. If the instruments come on, well that’s not the starter wire.

Run Flat vs Second Spare Tire

Haha 395s are EVERYWHERE in a few places like Texarkana, TX but OMG try to find one ANYWHERE ELSE and you will be in trouble.
  19. NDT

    Don't buy this junk!!!!!!!

These are almost as bad as the crappy keyed ignition switches people sell for these things.

Run Flat vs Second Spare Tire

Runflats for 395s are a nightmare to get in and out of a tire. The military only used them on MRAPs that run 395s, so they are not common to find on the loose. If it were me I would carry tire tools so I could repair my own punctures.
