    Chicken shield height?

. Well, I was pretty sure you already knew that - but stranger things have happened here. .

    Chicken shield height?

. Ummm... Somebody else might speak up and say otherwise, but the "chicken" part of the description is a bit of a misnomer. I am here to state clearly that anybody on the receiving end of incoming fire is not a chicken. That metal box is protection most recently used in the sandbox wars...

    Chicken shield height?

. I thought - Gee, this will be easy. It ain't! There are multiple variations on these chicken boxes... I snagged a few pictures that will give you a SWAG on height. If we could find a particular NSN, we could get better answers.

Wife wants me to do the unthinkable due to the Florida DMV debacle!

. The problem is that your truck has to fit the blocks on their form. Here in our state - when I finally figured out - my life just got a whole LOT EASIER. Also found out when I volunteered information it actually made it worse.

Newbie, need info on this truck, questions

. The default for the 5-Ton trucks (M939 Series) are the numbers that Simp mentioned earlier. 5 Tons of Cargo offroad and 10 Tons of Cargo on paved surface roads. The military didn't really buy trucks without a body. The wrecker version (also mentioned earlier) for example is heavier than the...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

. Thanks @Coug ! I had considered linseed oil and that might be the trick. Thinned is even better so it can seep into the cracks a little better too. My "problem in need of a solution" is actually slabs of Red Oak. Unfortunately, I think I hijacked the thread about the wooden 30 cal :-( OR...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

. Wonder how that would work for trailer decking? Back in the day, the wood decking would get "chewed up" on a lowboy because of the cleats on doziers. These days I don't haul that kind of equipment AND it is my trailer and my brand new decking... Makes a body wonder if AFT brushed onto that...

heater fan motor would not start.

. Customs folks are an awful lot like building inspectors... They couldn't "hack it" in the real world and got themselves a gouberment job and discovered that they could make life miserable for everybody else,

Newbie, need info on this truck, questions

. Nah, not thick - Just making sure it will do the job before you hand over the money. That makes sense and it is a smart way to go about considering any sort of purchase. The "etched in stone" answers would be on the military metal plates on the dash. Those plates will confirm what the...

    Mav’s M1088A1 Conversion

. If it is anything like mine - if you have been getting rain - a drum might be seized to the brake shoes. Seems that several others here have had the same problem. If mine sits around in the rain for more than a week, it requires a "love tap" on the steel part of the brake shoe. If you have...

For those of you looking for a good battery charger at a good price for 24 volt syst.

. Check with @98G . I believe he has some listed in the CLASSIFIED section of this site. I have three of them for three different vehicles that I have connected to different outlets around the yard. They are great pieces of equipment!

    The new "green" trailer? JLTV-T

. Yes Sir. I got mine for a nice price. On the other hand, I saw one of it's "brothers" listed on Face Crook for $15k. Way more money than I would have spent... But it sure is nice.

    The new "green" trailer? JLTV-T

. Happily I got the trailer and the body was attached to it - ready to haul - all as a package deal. Yessir, 20 inch rims. .

    The new "green" trailer? JLTV-T

. MCT Industries built 5 of these for testing with the JLTV. These have "tool pockets" on both sides. Might have been something specific to the Army for all I know. They also have bows and a canvas for the top. The neat part is that the MCT version make the bed removable to outfit the trailer...
