Another thing to consider is the fact that these gensets are at least 25 years old. Most have some sort of mechanical or electrical issue that has to be dealt with before they can be depended on. They are auction buys, NO warranty! If it don't run, Oh well. Just some things to think about. As...
Well stated sir, I plan to be there. Might I point out that a few post back you had noted that you were an officer in the club. At that point everything you say in the thread following is as a representative of the club. Once you state your position in an organization that is the subject of a...
The work was taken right off of the board in the hall! I took every job available in all kinds of weather. The old timers bitched because I was cutting into their gravy jobs in the nice weather along with taking the jobs nobody wanted in the winter. THAT is why they dropped my book, I stepped on...
I feel that I should apologize here because it seems I was the one to start this flare up. The main reason I did so was because if you go back to the beginning of this thread you will see where the O/P said that fuel would be covered as would insurance if need be. Therefore there would be no out...
You know what EMR, I was Local 825 for a long time until they dropped my book for taking too many jobs. You lost any respect for you that I had when you called me a scab. Would I give my employer a free hour in tough times? yes I would. I have a job with good benefits and I am thankful to have...
Fuel is compensated. You are charging to get there and back PLUS a days pay? Isn't that double dipping? Hey, I am not arguing with you, it is your trucks, your clubs and your rules. Just curious, do the members of your club also belong to the SAG? Well, Me and my MUTT may never be in a movie and...
Did you check out all of the new print they added to the web page about the tires and optional axle? I know that stuff was not there in July when I was looking at them. Hey, at least you now know the limit of your trailer, whatever the bed weighed minus a ton and you are safe.

900.00!!!:shock::shock::shock: WOW!
Well, Maybe since I don't own a Hummer I would be happy with what was offered. I guess I am just too old fashioned I don't know. Everything is not about the money to me, I would just enjoy watching the goings on and having fun. If this is how the clubs are...
NOS diffs are going for 200-250. T/O's are going for ~90.00. I would just pull the rear axles, four u-bolts per side. You might want to pack the rear wheel bearings if they have not been done recently, or since you got the vehicle. Pulling the rear shaft leave the possibility of the yoke falling...
I will not disagree but keep in mind that a deuce does not weight 40,000 lbs. and also does not have 48 points of contact with the road, albeit steel to asphalt. I have also had a Cat 966 wheel loader moved around by water on a construction project so that may be a better comparison. When you...
I am glad to see you read up before diving in. You covered all of the bases before asking questions, good job! An electric pump is the easiest way to prime the system but I think right now he wants to get it that 200 yards back to the house. I would second the glow plug removal, as long as they...
I was just looking at Kaufman's site and at the trailer you have. There are some notes at the bottom of the sales pitch that I would bet were not there before. I know I didn't see them but I was looking at the 14K trailer. Note the "Popular Optional 8'000 lb. axle" note. Also note the UPGRADED...
You are taking an electronically controlled engine that is really tied into the truck it is in and trying to put it in something that never, ever saw a computer. As was already mentioned, there are a bunch of sensors you will need to address. Go with the old mechanical 7.3 ford or a 12 valve...
I have one of the gasoline powered units if that is what you are talking about. Mine is a Quincey but they are all about the same. Minis rated at 15 CFM at 125 lbs. That is NOT going to happen! It is quite adequate for air tools and a blaster though. Mine is powered by the A4032 military...
Disconnecting the battery while the engine is running to check the alternator is the fastest way to blow out the diodes in the alternator! If you are lucky you will lose the regulator first and the spike will not take out the diodes.
Bring on the flamers

Glad to hear it has the correct axles, are they Dexters? Also glad to hear no damage. I still may get the Kaufman but your experience has shown me many things to specifically look for when I do. ESPECIALLY the tires!!!!
Are those outriggers hydraulic or mechanical? If they are hydraulic I would...
I agree, it takes very little water to move a vehicle. I have had water slide a 40,000 lb. bulldozer sideways! The water was only halfway up the tracks and not moving fast enough to create whitewater around the machine. That was an effort to drag a heavy rope across a flooded section of road, I...
