Shut down selinoid failed, opinions needed.

Sorry, The reason I said that is because I am familiar with the GM system and not real familiar with the Cummins. I would offer that you replace the solenoid on a GM because there are other things tied into it. The Cummins I do not know the shut down system but I have had problems with shut down...

The M1031 with 5" lift, 12-bolt H1's and no spacers build!

That is your tank drain. I like how in all of your fabrication you are not welding to the frame, very smart.[thumbzup] What is the connection in the center of the rear shock mounting? Rick

Shut down selinoid failed, opinions needed.

I read all the way to here before I realized that this was a truck that had been highly modified with an engine and trans swap. It might be nice to let people know this before asking for help for a vehicle we all think is stock. Rick

How well build are these CUCV's.

It is a 25 year old vehicle that has not had very good maintenance. Take it from there. I know some of you will jump and say the military takes very good care of there vehicles. BS.! I live on the ranges of a base and I see the condition of these vehicles. Run them till the die and then get a...

    Best CB To Purchase

Splitting your signal into 240 inches of antenna will send your reflected signal off the scale. You will have little or no signal. If you want to run dual antenna's then you need a matched set with the proper amount of cable. The antenna need to be at least 8 feet apart if I remember correctly...

    Best CB To Purchase

You will not be able to get enough separation between the antennas, You will get much better reception with one 102 whip. Rick

    Best CB To Purchase

10 miles on 400 watts? I got a consistent 200 miles on 200 ways. I can attest to the fact that the FCC does not like linears. They were a lot more lenient back then. Rick

    Best CB To Purchase

I have a Cobra 29 that I bought at least twenty years ago. Works great. I just dug it out the other day and still works great. As far as I am concerned CB is dead as a useable comm devise unless you want to learn some new and interesting phrases in another language. As was mentioned a good...

    M1009 Driving Crooked

Did you take all of the U-bolts off of both sides? If so you obviously are not listening to us. It was mentioned on several occasions to measure first. It was also mentioned by me to do one side at a time so you do not have a loose axle to deal with. If you have all of the u-bolts off you better...

2011 Graves Mountain Virginia Rally - Labor Day Weekend

OK, I have the pictures in my album on here but I don't know how to make them visible in a post from there. Am I going to have to upload them again from the computer directly to the post? Rick

    M1009 Driving Crooked

What Barrman is saying is correct but do the measurements at the axle housing inside of the steering knuckle. This is because ANY streering difference from center will give a long one side/ short the other reading. Axle housing to axle housing will be accurate. Keep in mind ANY difference will...

2011 Graves Mountain Virginia Rally - Labor Day Weekend

Still working on pictures, some are a little out of focus due to wrong camera settings but I will get the better ones up this evening. Been real busy at work and just crashing when I get home. Rick

    M1009 Driving Crooked

It takes a LOT of force to bend a frame! A **** of a lot more than a forklift picking it up. If the frame were bent from the forklift it would have had to jam the truck against something, like a building. I think you would see evidence of that, like smashed flat! I seriously doubt your frame is...

    M1009 Driving Crooked

You will need to jack it up, remove the lower shock attachment and then the u-bolts and then you can lower the axle from the spring. If there is any question then I would take it to an alignment shop first. Might save you a lot of work. As was mentioned the track width is different front to back...

    M1009 Driving Crooked

I don't know the specs right off the top of my head but it is real tight. If you use a 1/2 drive ratchet and pull as hard as you can you are close. That condidtion is usually caused by the spring center bolt shearing because of loose u-bolts. Be sure to check the center bolt. Rick

2011 Graves Mountain Virginia Rally - Labor Day Weekend

Turns out the missus had the camera settings wrong and a LOT of my pictures are fuzzy. I will see what I can salvage. http://i635.photobucket.com/albums/uu74/rickf1985/Graves%20Mountain%20%20Steel%20Soldiers%202011/GravesMountain2011005-1.jpg

    MEP003 siezed up

Even if you get it to spin the cylinders are going to have a lot of damage not to mention the rings. It would be low on compression and never run right. Rick

    Generator to house transfer switch.

Tlauden, I want it to be legal and safe and what you are suggesting is neither. With your setup there is the possibility of having the main on at the same time as the generator. With a transfer switch it is impossible to have both on together. Ksm, I am fairly well qualified. I am a...
