    glow plug blowout

. I was out on the street working on the truck last night right when Trumps election fortunes started changing. My neighbors were not very happy about it. They were walking around in a state of shock, but then they are abhored by the fact I have a CUCV parked out there and not a BMW or...

    Steerable Trailers?

Nothing, their the same thing. You just need the appropriate towing vehicle. Now if your towing two of them behind your regular fifth wheel trailer then they can get squirrely. Oregon still allows triple's and I still have my triple endorsement but I would never tow them again !

what kind of pyrometer are you using?

If the air filter was that bad then either the engine would not run or the hoses would break (burst) from the suction, or the filter would break apart. I have seen hoses ripped apart because of the filter being plugged.

what kind of pyrometer are you using?

It would let you know if you lost the turbo or sprung a air leak in a hose. In normal operation though the turbo would never allow negative pressures. At work we do have very sensitive gauges that we connect to the truck to verify problems and it does go negative for the reasons I mentioned.

    m25a2 injector testing

I found with my new 2 hole injectors that one hole misted the fuel and the other shot out a spray, like using a "windex glass cleaner" .

brake and clutch pedal adjustment fix.

Oh I hear you about the doctors advice thing. One of my Orthopedic doctors told me years ago to get out of mechanics. I told him "that's great and then how am I going to pay my bills ? " . He told me to get some training and go into a different field. I told him I'm in my fifties, who in their...

    Transmission Shifting Questions

The modulator is a very important valve in shifting. In fact it and the governor valve basically control all shifting. As a prank in Tech school we used to punch holes in others vacuum lines and adjusted the modulator unit to mess up there transmission shifts. A couple of guys actually destroyed...

    So i bought a Deuce

OK, now you just made me hungry ! I was so hungry I forgot to mention the fuel gauge problem ! The sender on these deuces can get corroded so bad they will never read correctly again. You probably just need to replace it with a nice NOS unit. There are plenty out there.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

No, he put it on inside-out. Yours has the straps and his has just the hold-downs to attach to the "bows" . No biggee.

    M342a2 on Singles

If you have mountains like we do out here, just taking it for a ride up to the pass will do it. You can put quite a strain on it going up there without a load.

Diesel getting in oil. What else should I look at while I'm fixing this?

If your Hydraulic Head "Clip" is tight on the shaft then just leave it alone. As far as the injector goes, you would definitely feel the vibration if it was just squirting like he said it was. It would be like a bad spark plug in a gas engine. Since your engine is running smooth I don't feel you...

    MEP Drawing restoration

Thanks ! That is great work you did ! The only question I have is how do you get rid of the "under development" so you can read the diagram better ?

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I went to the "Prothane" radiator mounts years ago and they work great !

    Transmission Shifting Questions

The higher the shift speed the more modulator and line pressure your dealing with. This in turn will cause harder shifts and more stress on the driveline. Haven't you noticed the firmer shifts ? Also if your transmission is not set-up for the firmer shifts it can cause slipping of the clutches...
