What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I have never seen a flared fitting I could NOT get loose with a good Snap-On flare nut wrench of the proper size. The fuel pressure line is a 5/8" flare nut. I have seen people try metric wrenches and fail. Also I do NOT trust Craftsman wrenches in tight situations. They have a tendency to...

Be sure to post your conversation with the shop here. Pictures would be nice too !

Auto Transmission will not go into any gear

You know that just kills me how the military just destroys perfectly good vehicles for no good reason ! I mean come on ! The CUCV is not a combat vehicle ! I can understand doing this to a Tank but a truck ! That is almost criminal !

The big trip and a new MV.

Here's a picture of the AD-9 unit. I made a bracket and attached it to the frame crossmember.

The big trip and a new MV.

I am so sorry for not seeing this post ! If it wasn't for "jking615's " new post I wouldn't have seen it . The AD-9 is mounted just in front of the front rear differential. The desiccant needs to replaced every 2 years if run daily and every 3 years no matter what as the desiccant absorbs water...

    Rear air tank install

That is exactly how mine works in this system. Since I added this large 12.75 gallon tank in the back I figured I might as well take advantage of having the air back there. This way my trailer brakes will be applying a little faster and with more air-pressure then if the air had to come from the...

Auto Transmission will not go into any gear

Here's some more pictures showing the differences from the heavy duty case to the regular case. Picture one shows the extra thick support for the bellhousing support on the heavy case. The second picture shows the regular case. Picture three shows the extra drilled and tapped pump housing bolt...

Need Part: IP Pump Hydraulic Head Ring Clip needed to hold button on rod

Hey Chris, your starting to get as forgetful as me ! You'll need to do what I do. I write down notes for myself and keep them on the countertop next to the garage door so I can remember to do what I was suppose to that day.

Question replaced fuel pump Mep 003

So you where unable to get the third pump to work ? Was it due to the connection ? Or was it too gummed up ?

    Prep for Winter operation.

I don't believe in using alcohol in the air-system anymore. Neither do the manufacturers. A good air-dryer is the way to go now, and be sure to drain your air-tanks daily.

I also drove my deuce in the Marines in snow. It seemed to handle it pretty well. Now ice would be a different story. I would chain it up for that.

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

The gear has a nut that is connected to a plate that is adjustable. This is to set initial timing.

Auto Transmission will not go into any gear

Since a picture is worth a thousand words I thought this would help explain what I meant in the last post. The first picture shows a standard automatic transmission used until the present times. There is no support in the lower half where it connects to the engine. In the second picture you see...

Auto Transmission will not go into any gear

I would say yes they would help. There are two sets of supports. The one has two rods that go from the motor mounts to the lower bellhousing support. Those add tremendous strength to the transmission to engine area. Then next one is the support rod that goes from the right upper area of the...

Need Part: IP Pump Hydraulic Head Ring Clip needed to hold button on rod

I know about having cataracts. I had over 100 cortisone injections over a ten year period. Two weeks after the last two injections I had problems seeing. Then I almost got into a terrible accident with my infant son as I could not see the stop lights on the car ahead of me (this was quite a few...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Yes I was referring to the "Great Alaskan Expedition" . The plan is to go in July or August. The roads should be the best during that time. I would love the company if you can make it ! The more the merrier I say. Plus if breakdowns occur then it really helps to have lots of capable hands to...
