I forgot to add this picture showing the strap bracket. This bracket adds tremendous rigidity to the fuel can. Once the strap is tightened down the fuel can is not moving at all !
Finally got a chance to install the R-14 valve and hoses today. It all fits pretty good up there ! Picture one shows the R-14 valve on the swivel tow bracket. Picture two shows the valve from the back looking up. Picture three shows the rear air hose quick disconnect fitting (next to the...
I'm due for my second knee also. They said it would last for 15 years as long as I didn't work on it. Well I still needed to make a living so it got kneeled on, a lot !
As far as lowering your clutch pedal goes, if it has never been moved you can lower it almost 2" more ! I plan on installing my...
Well injectors are pretty much like replacing spark plugs in that engine. The Lister can get complicated especially on the injector rail system. Try running them first before you do any major tear down. If they don't run then get a copy of the engine service manual and become very familiar with it.
There are plenty of Military Surplus sites that sell the 'U'-bolts for very reasonable prices. I have some for when I pull the springs down. I also plan on cleaning up the housing and "fixing" the drain holes. I will be painting it with a good two-part Epoxy paint when I do.
The problem is most of these holes are not blind. Almost all enter the case either fully or partially. I have a three 1954 REO case's that the holes go all the way through. Just put a 3/8" X 3/4" bolt back in.
I always thought the same about Aviation Mechanics as being the most difficult and demanding job, and would never dream of working on a helicopter engine or transmission ! I guess it just comes down to what you where trained for.
Actually it is a good design. It has held up for 50 years ! Most trucks don't last more then 15 years in active service. Even our buses which cost almost 1 million each only have a life span of 15 years. So considering these trucks have been driven and maintained by 18 year old men I think their...
The 802/803 generators do seem to have their issues. Here I thought the wiring was overly complicated on the MEP-002a and MEP-003a generators. The 802/803's make them look like children's toys !
Floridianson you still have plenty of brain cells popping ! Your one of only a few on this site that has a good grasp of how the injection pump really works, so don't sell yourself short. I also know about the effects the pain pills have. Somedays its amazing I can even remember I have a wife...
Picture one shows the rear planetary assembly which has the lugs on the outside that the parking "pawl" locks into when park is engaged. Picture three shows the pawl. Picture five shows the output shaft and picture six shows how it fits into the rear planetary assembly. Picture seven shows the...
I though my "analogy" was pretty good. I never mentioned the distributor cap which would correspond to the Hydraulic Head. As far as the "rotor" goes, yes it does effect the timing of a gas engine. The positioning of this rotor either before or after the caps electrodes effects where the spark...
