It is rare that everything works out so well. Nice that you have a good connection with the fire department! So, off grid means there aren't any power lines to your place either. Guessing maybe solar to supply electricity?
Not a lot of competition for boulders - but if you want or need...

Heck of a deal on the truck if you can find somebody that needs a tank.
Nothing like having that loader when you needed it... Ten miles is a long ride on one of those, but having it solved the truck problem.
.
The underside of Marine Corps 5-Tons and the SeaBees especially have the entire bottom of their trucks sprayed with something that looks and feels like silicon. I don't know for sure what it is, but everything - axles, transmissions, bottom of the motor and half way up the sides has that...

Dang that is neat. Even removed the fender tubs to really do that bed right.
I sure hope that you get some real enjoyment out of that truck!
She is going to be as nice as if it was fresh off the assembly line...

I installed a NOS muffler several months back.
The stack was somewhat high dollar, so I decided that an off the shelf pipe and clamps would do the job.
Picture attached.

It is an old thread, but here is a little information about @Crf450x and his installation of an Eaton RTO 9513 in a M923

Well by gosh, if you pick her up and drive it home - snap us a picture or two. Maybe even one out the front windshield if you can and post it up on the forum for that. Welcome to the Outfit too!
If you have a chance, be sure to download the Technical Manuals (TMs) for your new-to-you truck...

I was pretty impressed with @irnworker433 's work too. Don't know what it might look like under the top of that fender - but to me it looked as good as brand new!
.
Glad we could help get you involved in the MV of the Month! @papabear was on a quest last month for new participants and I had just seen your build thread. Timing was perfect for sure!
I can't wait to see the air show pictures!!

The Allison Troubleshooting Manual that @Ronmar linked is great to have. Attached below is a list of fault codes (quick and dirty). The manual gives a LOT more detail...

Welcome to the Outfit!
Lots of smart people here willing to share information... Search engine takes a little effort to use and quite often one of the public engines is much better.
SEARCH EXAMPLE
In your search line, type what you want like the STE/ICE example below...

Hi and Welcome to the Outfit!
I purchased an alternator for my M936 from @74M35A2 . Easy install and great service for the roughly two years that I have had it and still working today! I stumbled onto a hard top for my truck on FaceCrook marketplace, so that is an possibility too. It might...

This is a M1088. Unless you added a winch to the truck (most don't have one) is it possible that you are hearing the hydraulics that lower the spare tire and raise the cab? A kind of "thunk-a thunk-a thunk-a" sound rather than a whirring sound like a PTO mounted to the transmission would make?
.
With a short pry bar - or maybe a crowbar if you have one handy... Crawl under the truck and see of the back of the transmission or transfer case will lift up off the cross-member that either of them rests on. You don't have to "dump the clutch" for them to move much to create a "thump"...
.
Just fishing here... What about motor mounts - or based on the sound - it is possible that the mounts that hold your transfer case in place are missing or loose? Or by chance have the rubber biscuits that cushion it crumbled?
.
Neat Pictures and it looks like a nice event! I gather that you are a school teacher (You mentioned High School Engineering Students)? If so, thank you for the time you are investing in the next generation. People like you are why this country might just survive - in spite of itself!
.
I volunteer to operate the electric chainfall to dip them in the tar (being frugal) or to cover them in feathers. Either job... Would be happy to help with that project!
