I installed my spare fuel can holder on the passenger today. I had to use solid rivets on the hinge to allow it to bend down enough to clear the battery door. I also had to replace the step bolts with flat head bolts so the holder would set flush.

My instructors in the Marines taught me how to shift without using the clutch at all. You had to be able to start from 1st gear then upshift to 5th then downshift to second without using the clutch. If you "ground" the gears at anytime you failed.

If your transmission had previously been abused and you acquired it and then repowered it then yes the extra torque could have caused the last remaining clutch dogs to let loose . You never know what the last owner did or did "not" do like change the oil on a regular basis.

I went with the Bendix AD-9 since they are all over the place in every truck parts store. Also replacement parts (complete rebuild for spitter valve and all seals) and desiccant is only around $50.00 . The ones the military used are cheaper to buy but the replacement desiccant is very costly.

I totally agree with you Guyfang ! I usually change out my oil once every year. Even at that I could actually get away with changing it every two years easily since I always use a quality synthetic oil. I change it out yearly due to moisture getting into the oil from condensation.
