HEMTT Rim, Breaking loose the bead. No beadlock. Ideas to make this a smoother process.

#6 Tire being assembled now. I do have 2 more tires to mount but I still need some cash to buy and ship those so I can have 8 total tires.

Sorry had to read that again, sidewall not bead. Bead is .5inch

HEMTT Rim, Breaking loose the bead. No beadlock. Ideas to make this a smoother process.

They are Goodyear 16s AT-2A tires. Looks like the bead is 1.5ish inches. Here is a pic of my last cut side, uou can see I modified my "V" cut to ensure I was far fron the bead seal and my die grinder cut goes diagonally from there to ensure my depth was controlled. Like you, once I had the main...

    Superthermal's M813 Build, THE BOT

Spent the last week's evenings fighting the removal of the last three tires. You can look at this thread below to see how that turned out. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/hemtt-rim-breaking-loose-the-bead-no-beadlock-ideas-to-make-this-a-smoother-process.211681/post-2477946

HEMTT Rim, Breaking loose the bead. No beadlock. Ideas to make this a smoother process.

Well, all as I can say in the end is IF your not looking to save the tires I found that just using a Sawzall with a carbide Diablo blade to cut along the mid sidewall doing a vdip down to just short of the rim and then plunge your diegrinder into the bead metal bands was faster then any other...

HEMTT Rim, Breaking loose the bead. No beadlock. Ideas to make this a smoother process.

@simp5782 I am now working on one of the front tires. It had a clogged valve stem which would not take or release any air. I had to cut the valve stem body to release the air so I could safely disassemble the rim clamping bolts. The hardened rubber not allowing the bead breaker to edge up...

HEMTT Rim, Breaking loose the bead. No beadlock. Ideas to make this a smoother process.

After fighting the 4th tire for 2 hours or more and not even being able to break just one bead loose with my HighLift, I borrowed from a friend a bead breaker like what you have pictured here. Still took 9 different "Jacks" to break the bottom deep rim section loose and 6 for the top.

    runflats, good or bad?

In short NO, I dont have any special equipment. My steps I used are listed here: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/superthermals-m813-build-story-to-start.208944/post-2475278

    Superthermal's M813 Build, THE BOT

I dont have any special equipment to do this job. 1.I used soapy water to get the bottom half of the tire to seat on the dish side of the rim as best as I could with the tire face down. (UPDATE:I will never use soapy water again...

    Hutchinson Run Flat Lubricant

The material is water soluble and seems to "dissolve" easily when smeared with water. Even with no soap I could wash it off my hands with some effort. When I have the next tire apart I will take a little and put it in a glass jar and do an antifreeze test to see if there is anything I should be...

    Superthermal's M813 Build, THE BOT

First tire assembled. The alignment of the valve stem in the run flat was a bit of a challenge to get perfect (Yes it is perfect :)) but by far the hardest thing was to get the deep dish side of the rim to start slipping into the run flat. Fought that for a while. I have not aired the tire up...

    runflats, good or bad?

I finished mounting last night my first HEMTT rim with a 16.00 XZL along with the Hutchinson run flat. I was a bit worried as the rim width seemed to measure just over 10" inches of width and the tire with the run flat width seemed to be about 10.5". So there is absolutely some positive...

    Hutchinson Run Flat Lubricant

I have a set of MRAP tires with solid rubber run flats. I am moving the tires and run flats over to some HEMTT rims and when I went to clean out the tire of any water or debri that may have made its way in i found the tire coatedwith a tar gooy substance that I am guessing is this RF "grease"...

    Superthermal's M813 Build, THE BOT

Making some progress on tires. Dismounted 6 of the 8 MRAP 16.00s with their run-flats a couple weeks back. Started today on getting the tires one at a time off my BOT and dismounting the tires using a high lift. Was a pain as it didn't apply direct downward pressure to help the bead slip...

HEMTT Rim, Breaking loose the bead. No beadlock. Ideas to make this a smoother process.

THX All for the pointers. First one is OFF. After begging here for help I went back out and rotated the tire 90 degrees and jacked it again, rotated 90 again, then 90 and again. Jacking at each spot and it finally came loose. I am cleaning up the rim, changing the valve stem (Thanks to KEN for...

HEMTT Rim, Breaking loose the bead. No beadlock. Ideas to make this a smoother process.

Hello Alll Busting into my first HEMTT tire disassembly . I have separated the two halves of the rim and peeked inside and do not see a bead lock inside. I have been trying to break the bead off but haven't been able to get the tire to slip off the upper rim half. Is there any easier way to do...

    M809 Locking Gas Cap?

That is exactly what I am looking for Simple, Effective, Visual Deterrent and I don't need to worry about leaving it behind, or welding to the tank. Thanks everyone for the great idea.

    M809 Locking Gas Cap?

Thanks for the reply. Could you someday take a pic and let me see what it looks like? In looking at the take caps the 900 series look a bit different than my 809 series but eventually I will be adding a second large tank to my passenger side and I don't care if it is from an 809 or 900 series...

Detroit Locker chipped tooth on splined coupler. Still good to buy?

Looking to purchase a used Detroit 5Ton locker out of a 900 series for my M813. The locker has a single half broken tooth. Still good to buy? I dont see any other damage to the adjacent teeth. From the exploded view it appears the collar shares the load with all the teeth simotaniously and...
