    Help with Aluminum FMTV/LMTV Wheel

I think you can use the usual nut for that position instead of the special nut.

    New Tracked Vehicle

Sweet tractor! Did not know you could have a winch AND cable unit at the same time.

    Incorrect VIN number???

The question is, does your vin plate match his frame? Might not, as there appears to be a tangled web woven. If it does, you would have to convince him to assign his title to you, and you to him, and swap vin plates. As you know there are costs associated with title transfers, not to mention...

What did you do to your M715 today?

Sounds like the diodes in the alternator fused. Try disconnecting the alt lead and see if the problem remains. Can't be much else.

Matching Batteries to the Generating System

As you know, the 100 amp system was developed for the power hungry ratt rigs that fit in the M37. The vehicle's engine would have to run continuously at high idle when the ratt rig was in operation to meet the power demand. The larger batteries allowed somewhat longer battery only operation of...

    LS-671 Speaker mounted on dash

I had previously believed that there was a bracket for this. Forensic investigation on the 1081 reveals that no, there is no bracket, and the silly speaker is mounted upside down. Kinda hard to believe this is a military thing, but with the FMTVs, lots of engineering that was done much more...

    Disconnecting batteries

If you accidentally touch your wrench to the chassis or hold down bracket when disconnecting the negative post, no big deal. Do that while disconnecting the positive post, you will not forget that anytime soon.

    New M135 owner checking in.

What clues do you have that it was former Navy? That blue says Civil Defense post military use to me. Looks like a great unit to start with.

    M2A1 half track questions

Could be a M16 as well. You need quite a few parts from the parts track, someone installed an instrument panel from what looks like a International halftrack, cutting the dash in the process. If you could score the good unit plus picking rights on the parts tracks for 2 grand, you would be...

    1944 Federal 606 C2 Wrecker

Yes, both came from NASA Johnson Space Center. I believe they came here from New Mexico from the NACA days. They were used extensively to move test articles right up through the early Space Station days. So glad to see you have a shop building for that wrecker. As you have seen, they do...

When you are ready for the matching trailer for that truck, PM me, have two C-2s.

    M3A1 Stuart Tank Project

Advice? I will echo what I'm sure you have already been told: You will need to fabricate much of what is on your list. Find an extremely competent sheet metal fabricator/weld shop near you and make friends with them. You will need to travel to someone with a similar tank and make detail...

    FMTV Lift/Tiedown Shackles

Like CUCVs, these seem to get "lost" quite a bit while waiting to be auctioned. Oh well, ebay to the rescue. Search "shackle 9 1/2 1 1/8" These shackles are 9 1/2 ton with a 1 1/8" pin. Seller "anaexcess" took care of me with new US military surplus shackles, super nice.
