Hummer or HMMWV? I have a pull out Hummer H1 engine with serp if you wish to examine it. The HMMWV serp is different. The Chevy truck 6.5 serp set up is yet another option, it is set up for twin alts from the factory.
Is it safe to assume you wish to reuse the lock ring? I have cut those off of an assembled tire/wheel with a cutting torch without catching the tire on fire too much. If you resort to the tire burning, you have to do that at night out in the sticks. Works really well and does not seem to...
Take a look at the capacities data plate: towed load 36,000 lbs! So GCWR is nearly 50,000 lbs! Gives you an idea what the designers thought the truck was capable of. I have been at 50,000 lbs in my 275A2, however it has 185 hp LDS power. I suspect with the 331 that will be a slow go. But...
If your pipes are steel, those are pieces of the first gen bow system. The second gen improved system uses aluminum pipe. The first gen system is so huge it would cost a fortune to ship motor freight. Red River Parts has these in New Boston TX so you could make a quick run up. The second gen...
The air brake system has no idea if there is a trailer on or not, and is not modulated by anything other than your foot. If you are experiencing too early downshifts by the Allison, which result in jerks as the engine is spun up, I would start by seeing if your WTECII ECU is throwing any codes...
The vent on the front blue service glad hand cover is correct for the FMTV. Remove it and apply the brakes a few times and see if that corrects the fast leak. There are several threads here with brake troubleshooting guides along with trade part numbers for the rebuild kits for the various valves.
Welcome to Steelsoldiers, excellent thread subject/topic. I have been trying to figure this out as well. If you study the GP listings, it is quite apparent that the Bragg 1081's are/were used hard and put up wet. I believe the NATO 3 color camo trucks never went to Iraq or Afghanistan, but...
Couple of things. I don't see the special USMC-only rear airlift bumper. If you don't have lockers in the axles, I would be suspect of the responsible agency data plate. The main data plate boards were available new with all plates attached for a long time, however the rep agency plate was...
I would only swap in the 4L80e if you routinely need/wish to drive over 55 mph. With all due respect to jdknech's plan of action, dropping in a pull out GEP 6.5 is the way to go. The GEP engines are not 16+ years old like the tired GM engines and are not subject to cylinder wall cracks.
Looks like a Peashooter adapter might work. I would get him to send you a copy of the print of the adapter so you can double check before you drop coin.
Can you snap a picture of the other side of the wheel inside the dish? Also what is the bolt circle diameter and spacing of the flange bolts? Also what is the ID of the wheel inside the rim? With these measurements, you will be able to determine if the available adapters will fit inside the...
