The Quad Winding in the 802/803 simply generates the AC power that the Voltage Regulator requires to operate. The VR rectifies the Quad Winding power to DC. The VR in turn supplies and regulates the voltage supplied to the Field Windings to maintain the correct AC voltage. There are two...
MEP-802A & MEP-803A Voltage Regulators
Replaces TRC 19580 88-21063 6110-01-363-0492

They all passed test with flying colors.
Waiting on shipment of cable ties then I can start shipping. They should be here by this Wednesday.
Will post up a listing in the classifieds shortly.
Just a thought over coffer at 4:30 in the morning...
A hand held inferometer may help in determining if one cylinder may be the issue by measuring temps at the exhaust manifold for each cyl and looking for one running way hotter than the others.
The issue between the 803 vs 804 is the 804 can NOT output 120/240 single phase which is what most homes need. The 803 can do 120/240 and is a good fit for a home back up.
Do analyze your load needs to see if an 803 is overkill. Need to worry about wet stacking due to too light a load.
BTW...
It's not "idle" you are trying to achieve. The set isn't designed to idle. It needs to always run at a constant 1800 RPM which is 60 Hz.
The governor is suppose to handle maintaining 1800 RPM regardless of load.
Ted,
Your reading at 90% load was close enough and reading 10.4 VDC. Was just what I was hoping to see for a reading near full load.
I greatly appreciate you taking the time to run the test for me!
And yes, I am working on another "goody" for the 802/803's
Looking for someone to measure the DC Exciter Voltage in an 803A when running at 100% Load.
Measurement taken at the A1 Voltage Regulator across terminals 5 & 6.
Thank you in advance!

It runs again! :clinto:
I ended up popping the top cover off, muffler and air cleaner for better access to the injectors and IP's.
I then marked the sides of the IPs and the top shims with nail polish to mark where they were adjusted to.
When it last ran I knew the...
Guy,
I hope the grandson is on the mend.
Thx for the info on the possibility of the injectors jumping out of the rack. Will pull them, inspect and post up what I find.
