    In radiator engine oil cooler

Here's a few pictures of my truck. You can see the transmission lines and the power steering lines going to the radiator. I'm also working on installing an "onboard air-compressor" system, and a dual battery isolator.

Keep Military OEM or change scheme looking for advice.

I don't buy into all that "Rebal Flag" crap from the far left. It's part of our history, but a bunch of people are determined to rewrite our history to what they feel it should have been. I am totally for States Rights which was actually the main reason for the war. They just used slavery as the...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I have had that wrench on my watch list for years now. They get picked off so fast, you actually need to be on the site when it's listed to get one !

What did you do to your deuce this week?

It is used to remove the head bolts on the injector side. Not magical but very helpful !

Found out torque wrench is not accurate *after* rear main seal job

I don't know if Boeing Surplus is still open in Kent anymore. It has been quite a few years since I last went there, but I remember the deals that could be had there ! According to one of the workers there they are required to sell off material not used on a order of planes as surplus. I still...

Brake shoe adjustment driving me crazy

Your shoes might be too worn or the drum worn or both worn. I would take it apart and check your lining and measure the drum.

    In radiator engine oil cooler

You might have a problem with heat if you don't have a "Hydra-Boost" brake unit. My M1028 has the power steering pump providing not only steering assist but also brake boost so it can get pretty warm. Since I did this mod it has been running extremely well and cool ! Before on a hot day if I had...

    In radiator engine oil cooler

Is this question to me ? If so my transmission temperature is running around 150 to 180. Remember I run the lines first to the radiator cooler then to the two coolers in front of the radiator. I have a nice transmission temperature gauge mounted on the dash so I can check in a second what my...

Found out torque wrench is not accurate *after* rear main seal job

Sounds like you work for the aircraft industry. I have gotten some great deals from the "Boeing" surplus center in the past. They also are required to calibrate every few months and after just a couple of calibrations they get new ones.

    In radiator engine oil cooler

I have my transmission cooling lines go to the engine oil side cooler and my power steering lines go to the transmission cooler. The transmission lines then go to two coolers (with AN fittings) in front of the radiator .Since I removed the 6.2 diesel and installed a 383 Hi-torque crate engine I...

Spring has sprung and time for new springs on the CUCV's

Thanks cucvrus, that's what I was looking for. Are you still selling your NOS M1028 front springs ? I would like to buy them.

Found out torque wrench is not accurate *after* rear main seal job

Considering my tools is how I make a living I don't lend them out to anyone. I will let my best friend who is also a mechanic and owns his own shop borrow a tool every now and then but he doesn't ask very often since he doesn't loan tools either, and he only asks to borrow some of my specialty...

    very hard shifting into 4L

Like I said, I have the twin sticks and it still is hard to shift sometimes. You just have to find out what works for you.

    very hard shifting into 4L

I put pressure on the TC handle while putting the transmission between reverse and drive with my foot on the brakes. This rocking helps if it is sticking. I have gone with the dual stick design and it still needs help sometimes.

Found out torque wrench is not accurate *after* rear main seal job

The click type need to be set to 0 during storage. That was the old thinking, now they say you need to keep at least 20ft Ibs on it. I know next week they will say 30ft Ibs and the week after that it must be zero again. I just store mine at the lowest setting and get them calibrated every two...

Keep Military OEM or change scheme looking for advice.

When I bought my M1028 I really wanted a civilian truck but could not afford one. So after getting such a great deal on my CUCV I went and totally modified it back to a civilian unit. Lots of chrome and other trim. I even bought a 383 cid crate engine and sold the diesel. I did keep the handy...

    Need assistance Slow Deuce !

I believe all our floorboards should look like this. When I was a Sarge in the Motor Pool I made sure the operators always cleaned out their trucks daily !

Total brake failure during a panic stop

I also save my springs as the new wheel cylinders don't always come with the proper spring that holds the cups. I bought a bunch of "Chinese" made cylinders and threw-out all the cups and installed new ones from NAPA and installed my old springs.
