Is a Dana 80 strong enough?

I wouldn't use them. The Dana 80 is just a Dana 70 with disc brakes. The Dana 70 or 80 is great for a 1 ton truck but not a 2.5 ton truck.

    Yukon Men Show and CUCV

Just watched the latest show today. I liked your trick of using electrical tape and twine to fix the transmission leak ! That is thinking out of the box ! I would also replace all the transmission cooler lines as soon as possible and route them up in the frame rails instead of letting them hang...

    Valence's M66 Gun Ring

I like the "Marson" lever unit for up to 3/8" inserts. If you need bigger inserts then the manual insert tools are best. They have a grade 8 bolt and bearing to push against the insert. I cannot remember the brand name but any bolt store will know what I'm talking about. The only problem is the...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

What is the hose going to the differential all about ? Also what is that canister by the differential with the dangling wires all about ? The pictures came out pretty fuzzy and I cannot make out all the details.

    M35A3 Owners unite

The Allison transmissions forward hub must be completely stopped before you can engage the PTO. To do this you must have it in gear and stopped. Then try and engage the PTO. After engaging the PTO put the transmission in Neutral. When the hydraulic pump is finally working you will hear it...

    Valence's M66 Gun Ring

You need to install just as many "nutserts" as you would regular bolts. I have used nutserts for years now and they are a real blessing when used correctly.

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

I'm glad to see this bothers others too ! I will try and find a cheaper priced part and post it when I see "country" post something like "we have that part !" . I thought all selling posts went in the "classifieds" section yet you see them posting all the time in regular posts. Really pisses me...

    Yukon Men Show and CUCV

I'm glad the box will be put to good use. Those are getting so rare to find in good condition like that one.

    Yukon Men Show and CUCV

No he has it right. I had posted last night about Stan's disregard of that really nice equipment box but the system froze and deleted my whole post. I am glad the CUCV has a second chance on life but that was hard to watch ! Also that bed you put on is a Chevy bed. The announcer said it was from...

Tie Rods - Steering link - Can't Find Parts?

You sure hit the "nail on the head" on that one ! Most of these "parts countermen" are really just "parts kids" just out of high school. They weren't even a "glimmer" in their fathers eyes when most of the vehicles I own where made. All they can do is just what the computer tells them to do. The...

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

That's really going back to "old school" . I had to do that to pass my apprenticeship tests, but never in real life.

    Starter warm-up?

OK I misread that as dropping a "few" volts like in 2 volts, not dropping "to" a few volts as in only 2 volts.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

    I always loved Science !

    Starter warm-up?

Wait, you tested the voltage at the starter and it dropped to 26 volts correct ? Then you tested the voltage at the batteries and it tested out to 23 volts ? That's not possible. The voltage at the starter cannot be higher then the batteries. I would take your starter out of the truck and see...

    Power waveforms & MEP generators

Well at least a thermostat is not a big deal to change out. Hopefully after this it will run good for you.
