MV of the Month November 2021

Not bad? I would not kick it out of my living room for peeing on my carpet. Has my vote.

    Can’t get this to start…FIXED!!!

Me still thinking and brain starting to hurt. OK the overflow valve is on the return side of the head. That helps to maintain the fuel pressure that the booster puts out. Easy check remove cap do not loose spring and remove valve. Turn on in tank check for trash and check small hole that is in...

Seeking Advice on Replacing HH O-Rings in the Truck

Last post was long I know. I am not saying you have to drive around bumping the governor on every shift just wondering if the EGT would have come down with rpm increase. Yea if I remember 1850 1950 rpm torque and HP met so to me that is the sweet spot for when we are up to speed and happily...

    Can’t get this to start…FIXED!!!

Well we really don't not have a rack when I think of a rack system even though the TM calls it that. When I think of an older Detroit that has a separate governor tied to a bar and that bar controls each injector. From there we would set the rack adjusting every injector so the same amount of...

    Can’t get this to start…FIXED!!!

Just again spit balling. Know you said no fuel coming out of head but wonder if we / you should be looking at injectors. We need two hole tips and popping at least 3500psi.

Seeking Advice on Replacing HH O-Rings in the Truck

Just wish I had a old IP to play with. Most of the head replacement I have done same thing just check fuel control unit screws for binding fuel control and loosen as needed. Now I have never checked the gap between fuel control plate and the arm that is held on by the end nut. TM 9- page 3-35...

Continental Multifuel LDT465 1D Running Hot

Just a thought have you checked the air filter? In most cases we can see higher temps if the rpm are low and we can not get that hot charge out quick enough. Yea 1150 is a little hot for 2000 rpm but wondering if it would have come down if you went to 2500. If increasing rpm does not bring them...

    Can’t get this to start…FIXED!!!

Yep that was my fault when we removed the head I should have just taken your head with me home and pulled it completely apart and good cleaning. Since then we have become GOOD friends and I regret not taking charge of the head and it being less work for both of us but we got it running.

    Can’t get this to start…FIXED!!!

Yes you will get fuel out of the top center cap but delivery valve could be stuck open. You said your good there. Timing looks spot on. As for the pin / fuel control unit getting into the sleeve in most cases it is not a problem. That saying the sleeve is floating free and sitting on the bottom...

    Can’t get this to start…FIXED!!!

Even though we do not have to bleed the injectors on the Deuce would seem like if the Head was getting any flow of fuel you should have gotten something when you cracked the injectors. I have started and it idled without the secondary fuel filter over pressure valve in the truck. Showing we do...

    Can’t get this to start…FIXED!!!

Myself I would stay away from old used head for now and look into a new China replacement. Better bet in the long run to have a new one if you can not get the truck running.

    Tire o-ring replacement for leak.

I found the only problem was the new distorted nuts and something with enough power to get close to correct torque. Did mine with plenty of oil on threads and one inch air impact and big air line plus big compressor. Last ones done with Milwaukee M18 one inch drive # 4 power setting. That is...

    Tire o-ring replacement for leak.

I ordered some O rings and use the Accurite # that was stamped into my wheel. If you are having trouble getting the correct o ring to seal then something is wrong or you are doing it wrong. Bad edge on outer ring or O ring groove on wheel damage or not cleaned out right. O ring lube or tire soap...

    Tire o-ring replacement for leak.

When dealing with any other O rings I use a non-petroleum base O ring lube. As said tires, O rings and valve stem rubber Murry's tire soap in solid form not turned into a liquid. Also makes it easer when you have to change the tire in the future. Jtm Products Inc F1.0003 $28.26 8Lb Pail Murphys...

    Tire o-ring replacement for leak.

Murphy's tire soap on O ring and valve stem rubber is all I use. Never had a problem but I also use two non distorted nuts to pull the ring down even and tight. Then put on all distorted nuts tight and replace the two first nuts with distorted.
