At first I thought you where kidding. Then I went back and enlarged the picture. WOW ! Your right though about the snatch blocks, but you need to keep in mind the snatch block needs to be double the winch capacity. Also as you go with more snatch block each one needs to be double the capacity of...
Just get a snatch block. "Warn" sells a nice one 36,000Ibs for $275.00 and "Smitty Built" sells one 36,000Ibs for $90.00 . I don't know why such a price difference though. The Warn has a 8" pulley and the Smitty Built has a 6" pulley. Other then that I don't see much difference.
I actually own a...
The Warn 18000 winches came up on auction last year. They where "new take-offs" . A few guys bought some lots then and sold what they didn't need. I was lucky to only pay $600.00 for mine. Shipping cost about $100.00 . Considering this winch sells for almost $3000.00 that's not bad ! I haven't...
I totally rerouted all my fuel lines. Now I have no worries of ever hitting my fuel lines. This is one of those times I just have to wonder what the engineers where thinking about when they designed this !
"Tulsa" makes one of the best winches in todays market. They are extremely strong and have competitive pricing. I almost went with one for my deuce before I got this deal on the Warn 18000 .
OH man did you just bring back some fun memories ! I got an infected toe-nail and had to pull it off using my nail clippers ! The drill instructors just sat and watched me do it. I think they where betting on whether I could do it without screaming !
I didn't give them the satisfaction of...
Maybe if they went with modern "roller cam" engines with good cam profiles on them they wouldn't suck so bad. Just saying.
So what kind of mileage did your 6.2 diesels get ?
I forgot to mention I bought my first CUCV in 1998.
Actually the manuals I was referring to are from the 1980's. Not that old really. I still remember my training instructors from VoTec school saying "Gravity Bleeding" done right was a better way of bleeding brakes since air didn't get trapped in pockets by the force of pressure bleeding. So...
Granted I only have 75ft of 1/2" cable, but with chains I should be OK. The amp load at max pull is 278 amp's. That's less then the engine starter uses. Since this is basically an "emergency only" item, I won't worry to much about having enough battery (though I am looking to buy a 100amp...
That's a nice installation. Your bolts are still in a shear position though. With mine the whole force is against a solid plate backed against 2 bumpers which are mounted to the frame with 5/8" bolts. Either way they both work !
How hard is it to get out of the cab, open the engine compartment side cover and turn a handle ? I suppose I could install a cable to pull the handle. As far as how fast it shuts-off the motor. It's under 2 seconds. Once the fuel in the pump is gone that's it.
Also lets remember, these engines...
Here's page 10 from the Jake brake installation manual for the Cummins M11 engine. It shows how to connect to the engines ECM. This signal then allows the module to shut-down all injection while the Jake Brake is in use.
