Some quick pointers: the US Military multifuel engine utilizes the hypercycle combustion process which was invented by M.A.N. of Germany. Continental Motors, the mfg of the engine, used the technology under license.
That's the one with the stainless tank. They bring WAY more than that at auction, I have been trying for one for years. Silly tires are easily obtainable cheap.
These trucks aren't the easiest to change the oil on, so I thought I would give some pointers, as I know a lot of you plan to do this oil change before recovering a FMTV to your AO.
First issue is the oil filter. It is nestled high on the engine and difficult to get to. Most likely it is...
91.28" minimum reduced height on a M923. It is listed on the main data plate. It is an ordeal to take all that off and put it back every time you want to go somewhere. I had a deuce I kept in a boat shed back in the day, had the same problem, I would drive it around commando, with the...
Cool, looks like a pre-production prototype of the M1101. Can't be 1975, HMMWV came to life in 1984. LWHMTC could stand for Light Weight High Mobility Trailer Cargo??
Oh that's gonna be a nice one, I bet the PD spent a fortune getting that in-dash A/C put in. Better see about draining the ancient diesel and putting in some fresh. Truck probably sat for a while at the PD before they sold it.
Thanks Castle, I do believe this is how I want to go as well having suffered through a transformer-rectifier ugly failure. Did you use the alternator and equalizer from the M916A1's -20P, and if not, what p/ns did you select so we don't have to reinvent the wheel? Thanks.
I converted to viscous clutch a long long time ago. I vaguely remember the clutch is from a 90's Chevy 1 ton, the fan is from H1, and you have to grind the face of the water pump pulley flat. I did an article on this that was published in MVM but now I can't find it. Sorry I can't be specific.
Hello, have you tried the "parking brake won't release" troubleshooting tree in TM9-2320-365-20-2? That is where I would start. Things get mighty complicated under the cargo bed with the inversion valve and anti-compounding valve and on and on.
My take is Make: McGraw Commercial
Model: Trailer 2 wheel
Weight: 1500 (this is the empty weight which is not given, scale it or guess)
GVWR: 3000 (this is the weight of the trailer with the original tool load)
Does NC require titles for trailers under a certain weight? TX does not so a...
My 2 cents: I suspect the M880's factory color is the same as inside the cab, behind/under the seat, where sunlight has not hit it. I think Bikeman nailed it (see his thread).
Great show! Huge haul for me at the swap meet: New Max Axe, NOS stack exhaust pipe for GMC deuce, 4 of Fuzzy's headlight bulbs, 2 cans of the American Coatings CARC substitute (proper flatness level) sold by Brent Mullins Jeep, and a nice deuce hood. All at a fraction of retail. Lots of...
This statement is completely unfair. The clerks have no instruction manual from Austin on how to do these FMV registrations. They do these very infrequently. You have to know EXACTLY how to navigate the RTS software and you can't figure it out without someone showing you.
If it were me I would remove the line from the hydraulic cylinder that is not pressurized when lifting the tire. Remove the line where it is attached to the manifold. Put the end of the line in a coffee can or something. Attempt to lift out the tire. If when the tire stops moving, you are...
Old formula 2 part CARC has isocyanates not lead. All HMMWVs came with CARC from the factory. I use a palm sander with 80 grit to smooth the old finish.
