I totally agree with that article, which is why I already decided to put some stainless steel wool I already have just for this purpose in the hose going to and from the collection tank. Trust me I already thought about all the ramifications of this system. The hoses are over 4 ft long each...
That's basically what the new buses are using. A fan draws in outside air to cool the alternator. Our older buses used engine oil to cool them, but they where big bulky cast-iron monsters !
You do realize color pictures have been around since the civil war ? They just weren't used much because of cost. How old do you think I am anyway ?!?!?
My great-grandfather fought in the civil war not me !
I forgot to add this picture showing the bottom port where the drain valve will be. When I do my monthly inspection I will drain this tank of all the collected crud.
This is a "simple" system with no electronics or valves to go bad, just a simple drain valve like your air tanks have. It will be...
OK here is my design for the slobber tank. The hose from the slobber tube will come into the tank at the 1-1/4" hose barb. Since the vapor will have had a chance to cool down, the oil that was held in vapor will have separated and collect in the bottom of the tank along with any moisture. The...
Just because I do like to learn or in this case "relearn" I looked in one of my old engine manuals and found this. Yes your right Jason, this time ! I think your still sore from the last "ass wooping" I gave you !
About who likes to argue more you have got to be kinding ! Your like the...
There are plenty of places that sell the "tie-rods". Just off the top of my head , "White Owl" , "Eriks" , "Eastern Surplus" , "TMJ" and I know there are others. Just type in the NSN # on Google.
If the manufacturer puts "TOP" on there ring then I would go with that. Looking at that ring they must have some way of pressurizing the ring to have it "push" against the cylinder. I cannot tell from the picture which side is level and which is tapered. On all "unmarked" rings though you go...
I understand you have a "Parker" now. I have a new "Olympic" pump in my right tank and a almost new "Parker" pump in my left tank. The pressures are almost identical. The other pressures your talking about are the boost pressures from the injection pump.
Yes it is worth it. If you ever have to change out the Hydraulic Head even once for a bad clip then you would know what we mean ! Considering the newest of our trucks are at least over 3 decades old then those clips will be a failing soon !
Like I said I like electric fans just not all the electrical crap associated with modern vehicles. Mine will be very simple. Also I just had to deal with a bad metal fan (rusted rivets) and I can't afford to have my radiator damaged by a wonky blade. Now if someone came up with a quality heavy...
I'm starting to think along these lines also. Who knows what is in that WMO your using. You could be injecting "cleaning solution" down those cylinders for all we know. Like I said earlier. There is to much carbon on that piston (top and sides) !
Did you find out which direction the rings taper...
That was just 3 years ago. Remember the surface area of the housing is not that much. Head gaskets have large areas of contact as do pipe joints. Your looking at less then 1/4" of contact here.
I had to correct my previous post. I meant to say "it will now last another 20 more years."
Sorry...
Actually around here you don't even need the radiator fan. Only in high summer would it be an issue. I worked at a radiator shop in Phoenix AZ when I was going to trade school and I saw a whole lot of radiators tore apart due to the metal fan breaking a blade off. I always take mine off and...
Sometimes I won't even bring them upstairs, I'll just plop down on the steps and start reading. Then later my wife will come looking for me and say "what on earth are you doing out here ? " . I'll of course say "just reading" to which she'll reply " I just don't understand you and that truck ! "...
