    Generator trailer tongue jack

OK now your just being mean. The Hi-Lift jack is a tool I recommend everyone carry on their trucks. I have 3 myself. They can be dangerous if used without common sense that is true, but I wouldn't demonize them. I do agree that you should have a "proper" trailer jack installed to lift the...

    Deuce seat covers

I remember that smell to this day ! I actually grew to like it ! All the tents and seats and folding sleeping cotes had that smell. In fact every piece of canvas in the military had that smell. It would rub off on you and you would smell like it too after awhile. After a "long" ! day of humping...

3 or 4 finger pressure plates

Come on Chris, you should know by now that I don't make this stuff up. Here's the proof. Also to be technical the 3 lever clutch can also be adjusted. It's just not normally needed.

3 or 4 finger pressure plates

The problem with the 4 finger model is that it must be "adjusted" . The 3 finger model does not need adjusting.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Just because it was installed wrong back then doesn't mean it is right. My son would always say "the other boys are doing it !" and I would say "it still is wrong" .

What did you do to your deuce this week?

It could be the air regulator (on the air-pac) is sticking. When you rebuilt it last time did you install a new spring on the air pressure valve ? Also what kind of lubricant did you use ? Regular grease is a No No .

Deuce keeps getting air in fuel system

Air and water in a system that pressurizes oil (hydraulic) or in our case fuel (for the injectors) can cause "microbursts" (cavitation) . These bursts are actually small detonations of heated water or air (gas) that actually destroy the pumps themselves. That is one reason why the injector pump...

Picked up 6 MEP-802A gensets and will be documenting making them all runners here

Diesel fuel that has been properly treated can easily last up to 10 years in proper storage. I personally used fuel that was stored for over 5 years with no problems. Now Kerosene that is sealed has been known to last for decades !

My "new" MEP002a in South America.

I would check out your injectors first. You have a bad miss going on. In fact I would bet one of your cylinders is not working at all right now. Get it running again, then loosen up one injector line at a time and see if the RPM drops. If it doesn't drop a lot then you have a bad injector. Or a...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

All DOT approved fittings have the inserts. Some are stainless steel and some are brass. The ones with plastic inserts are not DOT approved. So you don't have the proper fittings installed.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I reuse my old inserts all the time. Are you talking about the compression sleeve? You just have to carefully cut off the old compression sleeve (I use a fine blade hack-saw) and then remove the old insert.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Just don't forget where you put them ! I'm always doing that.

Oil seal mod. for 3053 input shaft

Just talked with Brian. He said it wasn't epoxied or welded. He is very busy right now and will not be able to post anything for a few days. So we wait and see.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Is that third picture of a "breakaway" sleave ? If so then just cut out the tube insert and reuse it with the new fitting. If it's the separate type of fitting (fitting-ferrule-insert) then again just reuse the insert and fitting and use a new ferrule.

Oil seal mod. for 3053 input shaft

Yep, it's epoxied it in. I would never use that piece. I have seen parts that where epoxied in transmissions before. They have a tendency to come loose and destroy the bearings. Especially the small needle bearings. I had a case that someone tried to repair a crack with by using epoxy. The epoxy...

    Building Deuces Normandy 1944

Are you referring to my comment that a small percentage actually fights ? I never said they where not important, just that a small number actually fights. I was a Fleet Marine (fighting unit) then transferred into a Motor Transport unit. We used to say that without us "The Fleet had to beat...

    upgrade generator to digital gauges

Mine have held up well on a MEP-002A since last year, and we all know how much the MEP-002A shakes when running.

    Armored interior/dome light

I bought two lights from FloridaAKM and they are great ! I bought the plugs on eBay.

Restoring data tags and gauge panel

Sounds like aluminum corrosion. You will need to sand them down and put a clear coat on them. The problem is that will wipe out your information.
