I used to work as the main mechanic for a small fleet of trucks (40) . Since it was a privately owned company it needed all the trucks running to make money ( spraying pesticides and herbicides ). The trucks where all 3ton units with manual transmissions used to haul 600 gallon tanks and PTO...
If only life could be that simple ! It's funny, my wife (who is a Liberal) and I (very conservative) where just talking about this issue yesterday. We (the U.S. government) forgot the basic tenants of combat, namely "know your enemy !" . We entered this quagmire in the middle east without...
"Airtex" used to make a good product, but like many other companies they went the "cheap made in China" way to compete with the big boys like "Holley" . I have a fuel transfer pump made by "Airtex" from the 1960's that stills works great ! The new ones won't make it a year on average.
The problem with that analogy is, that is averaging the total amount of troops with the amount of action seen. The reality is most troops where and still are "support" troops. It's a small percentage of the troops that actually see combat. There where infantry units that hit the beach at "Omaha"...
I would love to pick-up a Isuzus diesel truck, but around here it is well known how long the engines last and the great mileage they get. So they command a high price ! I just refuse to pay $4000.00 to $5000.00 for a 30 to 35 year old truck !
I have a new Olympic pump in my right tank and a new Parker pump in my left tank. The parker is so quite I have to take the cap off to hear it run. The new Olympic pump can be heard from the drivers seat with the air buzzer going off ! I have a couple spare Parkers but will keep the Olympic...
I believe your right Garrett. I thought for quite sometime that there was a check-valve like most in-tank fuel pumps have,
but looking at the cut-away of the pump I see no mention of a check valve.
My misunderstanding. I thought since my last post mentioned the AT500 series you where thinking about me. I guess if you think about that, it makes me kinda conceited ! Why would you want to think about me ? I think my pain killer has kicked in !
Does the M939 have a "Vanner" battery charger built in ? Our busses run four 12 volt batteries. There are taps off two of the batteries for 12 volt systems and then they all are connected (series/parallel) for the 24 volt system. The Vanner is connected to each battery charging them accordingly...
Boy you got that right Garrett ! Don't ever run the truck without that return free ! Not unless you want to see what happens to a fuel filter canister that is over pressurized !
TB58 you have the right attitude ! Things happen and we just have to deal with it. I'm constantly telling that to my son who just wants everything to be perfect now ! We all know that life is messy at best ! and at worst is just a B!tch ! I hope your problem is easily solved though.
