That looks like mainly surface rust. Very fixable Body looks straight, hard to tell with just two pics. Paint is easy. Bumpers and such are usually on eBay, etc. Its running. Your already ahead of the game.

They are worth saving if it's at all possible. There are fewer every day. Unaltered ones are very hard to find now.

Only way to learn is to dive in. Read all you can, including old threads. Good typical set of tools is needed. Build tool set as you go and as you realize what you need, add to it. Start small (air leak is a good start) build your experience and confidence as you go. Do your own oil...

Recommend two-cycle motor oil instead of ATF. It's designed to be burned. ATF isn't and has friction modifiers added in. Not the best thing for a IP or injectors. Do a search about Additives. Plenty of discussion about each and more. I also run a can of seafoam in it once a month...

Buying a used one isn't any better than leaving old one on. If your going to the trouble to change it and the seal, install brand new.

Did they say they are out? I just checked and it is still showing in stock. If you choose the free shipping, it sometimes takes a bit to get to your door. Local parts store should be able to get it for you. They only stock the cheap ones.
