Rebuild alternators and buy new starter.
Once you convert, help here with issues and the TMs will be slim to none.
Never understood why guys convert when stock system works very well.
Good luck.
That looks like mainly surface rust.
Very fixable
Body looks straight, hard to tell with just two pics.
Paint is easy.
Bumpers and such are usually on eBay, etc.
Its running.
Your already ahead of the game.
Totally understand if a vehicle is down for maintenance.
I have to cover vents and ports on RV with wire mesh to prevent mud daubers from causing havoc.
That works very well.
They leave you alone unless you really try to get stung.
The red wasp, are just plain evil.
If you get even close...
It would have been interesting to see the upgrade programs on these trucks if they had stayed in the system.
I'm sure a serpentine belt system would have definitely been one of them.
Like mentioned, cover it with a tarp or net, store it inside or drive it often.
Have wasp spray ready for any discovery.
That's it.
Nothing else you can do.
Red wasp and mud daubers are problem here.
The red wasp are very aggressive. Not fun.
Nothing I own sits longer than three days...
Only way to learn is to dive in.
Read all you can, including old threads.
Good typical set of tools is needed.
Build tool set as you go and as you realize what you need, add to it.
Start small (air leak is a good start) build your experience and confidence as you go.
Do your own oil...
Recommend two-cycle motor oil instead of ATF.
It's designed to be burned.
ATF isn't and has friction modifiers added in.
Not the best thing for a IP or injectors.
Do a search about Additives.
Plenty of discussion about each and more.
I also run a can of seafoam in it once a month...
Did a controlled burn on part of the ranch a few days ago.
I was in the M1008A1 as usual, doing fire watch and hauling chainsaw, dogs,
etc. including M101A2
Once the sun set, new lights on truck were on for about 7+ hours straight.
All high beam.
Didn't miss a beat and definitely earned...
Definitely each.
I researched it quite a bit and eBay is the least expensive.
I even contacted the truck-lite company via email for a military discount.
Thats a new thread in itself.
Basicslly......Thank you for your service, but FO.
Yea......very surprising. The attitude, not the saying...
Did they say they are out?
I just checked and it is still showing in stock.
If you choose the free shipping, it sometimes takes a bit to get to your door.
Local parts store should be able to get it for you.
They only stock the cheap ones.
I bought my set from a seller on eBay that also has their own regular website.
They were the least expensive. Very fast and free USA shipping and well packaged.
Excellent reputation and long established.
But as already mentioned, you can get them from amazon, etc.
All you need is a Torx...
