Picked up trailer this morning.
As mentioned, the whole lot is graveled. Rain would not affect recovery.
Lots of items and junk there but still room to get around.
They DO have a big forklift there. Would have been nice to know ahead of time.
Watched 3 SEEs get loaded with help of that...
I had a similar issue
Turned out to be the large plug on the back of the instrument cluster.
The brown exciter wire end wasn't making contact.
Cleaned and tweaked it.
All fixed and that was a year ago. Still working great !
May or may not be relevant to yours but worth looking at.
A lot of unknowns for such a long drive.
I agree about the brakes. Easy fix. But.....stopping hard from full speed will be like driving along a railroad track.
Keep it slow and keep plenty of distance.
Sounds like your going to drive it anyway.
As long as you have the time, cash, and...
You clearly drive these trucks way more than 97% of us.
What kind of tire tread life are you getting?
What other componets are you replacing and how often?
Air ride seat?
I am very curious.
I drive mine a lot (I thought) but not even remotely close to what you do.
You could actually start a...
You can sell your trucks, etc through them.
Clack on the sell button on the home page.
Ive never done it but there are some things that are for bid now from private parties.
Two-cycle oil is just fine.
Lubes the IP and injectors and will quiet it down.
Every piece of rubber needs to be replaced. If you replaced some, you need to do the rest. It will save you a lot of headache later. It's an old truck and the rubber gets hard and cracks (leaks) over time.
Fuel...
On one of my trucks that was a fresh rebuild, new Hawkers battery's and all.
After loading the driver left battery switch on and 3 days later showed up with truck.
I was several states away at the time and driver called me to ask why it wasn't starting.
My Uncle had to get a tractor and pull...
Looks like a nice truck.
Good to hear your not afraid of some work.
Is it worth 5k?
I personally do not think so, but only you can answer that.
The unique features of the truck have been removed as mentioned.
The brushguard, shackles and hitch are the things that make it stand out as a...
My first thought is why in the world would you let it sit that long between starts.
My first CUCV sat for years before I got it so that shouldn't be the only cause.
You might have had a coolant leak and its hydro locked?
Pull injectors and try again once you fix starter and/or flywheel...
First ......Welcome to the site.
A picture is is worth a thousand words.
Impossible to tell much without a look.
These trucks do require work and maintenance.
If done right and good parts, it will be fairly dependable.
Dependable as a new truck or car? No.
It's a old vehicle and that...
I would change the fuel filter again and also do the water drain per the TM.
Filter is cheap and needed if you do not know the condition of the inside of the tank.
Get some fuel additive to help absorb any water.
I would also add some two cycle oil to the fuel. About 1 quart per tankful. Makes...
What have you done, if anything, to the fuel system ?
Have you added any fuel additive to help clean things?
Fuel sock ?
Fuel filter ?
Air filter ?
mice nest in air cleaner?
As already mentioned, when was last time you drained the water from filter base?
Original injectors or have they been...
Well I've seen hundreds of Military trucks tied down wrong on rail cars then.
I understand your point, but every piece of
military equipment, be it trucks, trailers, boats, whatever are always tied down where it says "tie down".
I know it's not always the shackles but most of the time it is...
