Yep that top left hole is the only one I had to adjust with the rat tail. My tanks showed very little water but the old dryer was full of water.
Sometimes it is easer to replace these old air dryers than to try and rebuild in my .02!
Thanks to Will aka Suprman for the new dryer. I thought mine might be getting old and yes to my surprise the old one was full of water. I mean full. I had the universal backing plate so no holes needed to be drilled. Just one hole in the backing plate needed a rat tail file to open it up just a...
M1088 drained the rear rear again to get rid of the milk job because someone thought these trucks are water proof. Removed both front axle caps and checked the planetary gears.
Yes alternator and myself I did it's bracket. I did it in the course of also having the turbo rebuilt so to add up the hours. Right tools all parts and nothing else then bet you could do it in four hours.
I knocked off my flange cap nuts with a old monkey wrench and a dead blow hammer so I could remove the axles. They came loose very easy. Now I just have to find out what axle is having trouble. I will put the monkey wrench in the truck tool box.
Steve I grabbed this seal installer off Obay for...
And to tighten the belt just start the truck with jam bolts loose. Tighten jam bolts go have FUN!
For those who are not real fast with a wrench shut down motor before tighten up the jam bolts please.
Yea I hear what you are typing. You don't have to change out the rear gear oil if you just loosed the bottom plug to see if there is milk or water or good color. Rears are one inch down from fill plug when hot and that leaves the hubs correct. Fronts I would change the gear oil out per TM no...
Are any of the check valves leaking. Most of the simple check valves can be taken apart and cleaned as they are just springs and rubber over metal seats. Simple and easy to check. Your front hubs and the condition of your gear oils are to me more important to check I would think.
Change all gear oils in axles and hubs. Change out engine oil and filters plus fuel filters. Check change out coolant. Worry about headlights when you know the truck can even go down the road.
