Hi Owen!
Yes sir. Things are much happier now that my M1088 has batteries that are attached to the truck. I learned things that I wouldn't have ever needed had the theft not happened... On the other hand, knowledge is a good thing.
Some sort of penetrating oil soaking overnight is bound to...
I have used a drill bit - by hand, not in the drill - and cleaned out the old hard grease in spring pins before. It isn't perfect, but it gets most of the crud out so the new stuff can get through... I start with a small bit, then try something larger. The old grease comes out fairly easy...
My truck must be a "Sunshine State Truck" because here - this morning it was about 45 when I went out to fire it off. No block heater and it rattled for a good 5 minutes before it smoothed out. It had a bit of a surge too, but all of that went away when it warmed up...
Yeah! That sounds more like what I remember... We would snug the road tractors up to the bay door if they stayed outside to cut down on the wind - and with the 110v plug snaked out under the door - it was like cranking on a normal spring day. No clunk and sputter, just fired up on all 6 or 8...
Looks like she might have gotten a Silverado paintjob too. That's okay though right? All things can be changed with time and effort if you choose too. Welcome to the site from the east coast of the United States!
Welcome as a member dotson90 !
Looks like you definitely have a good looking accidental purchase with the M1083. I mean a missing door is not so great in the rain - but that problem can be solved if she will "make smoke".
My M1088 is like driving a race car without a trailer. It does well...
If they can be printed without violating a copyright, we do that sort of stuff in the printshop where I work all the time. We have a perfect binder to make it a "square back book" too. I imagine having one to look at would help us choose the right kind of cover to do the job... Sounds like...
Absolutely!! We had to go for a spin around the block this morning. Shook off the leaves and dusted off the cobwebs! Thinking I may take her to the car wash tomorrow since it is supposed to be a little warmer. Not that the truck needs a bath, but a little high pressure water can't hurt -...
Got my battery box stuffed with 4 batteries and the wires are where they belong. Nothing smoked when I attached the wiring from the truck. One of the sweetest sounds there in the world was hitting the Main Power switch and hearing the aftercooler fans power up, then the (normal) relays clicked...
It is strange how it works... The X-10 system does have some age on it, but it still does the job really well. I have it tied to my alarm system too so if it goes off it trips a big honkin relay that turns on floods and spots on all corners of the house. Burned a bunch of brain cells figuring...
A lot of these "Home Automation" vendors call them "Appliance Modules". They are good for a coffeemaker, a crockpot or other higher amp draw kitchen appliances. X-10 sells a 15 amp and a 20 amp module. They have the SNAP sound of a 1950's light switch when they power on and off...
I have...
Welcome to the Site and the hobby! All kinds of questions... Is it a 1971 Convertable with a soft top? I have more fun with that - telling friends that I have an '84 Convertable. I am personally on a quest for a hard top for my M936. Think I have a deal locked up maybe - but the Chinese...
Fumbling (Bumbling?) along through the TM's for the 1083 Series Trucks - I FINALLY came across the troubleshooting guide for the LMTV and MTV Cab Jack and Spare Tire Retainer.
TM 9-2320-366-20-3 is 1397 PDF Pages. Section 2-36 is where it starts and that is PDF Page 425.
Most interesting...
Hi Adam,
Sad to hear that she sat on the sidelines for four years, but now she has a "new daddy" and he will get her fixed up! It is a nice looking truck! That is a heck of a garage too...
Tim
Hi Adam!
Welcome to the group. Welcome to the hobby too. There are Technical Manuals (TMs) posted here for your new toy. There are operators and parts TMs as well as maintenance TMs. They will answer a lot of questions - and there are lots of folks here with practical experience.
Be sure...
Wow. And the stink from those things when they "go" will make you gag. Best thing we ever did here in the shop was converting to LEDs. I was on a ladder at least twice a month swapping a ballast. It has been 7 years since the swap and we are finally starting to see some bulb failures...
You mentioned welding, so sheet metal and you must work well together... WHAT IF you removed the braces that are there, reformed them to touch the center of the hood? I am just thinking out loud - but wonder if over the years - if the hood supports have "spread" left to right?
That big heavy...
