Check to make sure the glad hand dummy coupling on the front passenger side has a vent. Otherwise, the air brakes on the 900 series should be able to be repaired at any heavy duty truck shop. The system is not military-special.
The "huge" towbar you have pictured is what you need for towing a M915-916-919-920. They have 1.5" pins on the front. I just bought one myself. You can lift them manually if you split them and only lift one end at a time.
The engine needs to spin up to 1200 RPM before you get output. If the red light did not come on with the governor circuit, chances are your Woodward governor system is INOP. You can try manually accelerating the engine with the gas pedal and having soldier b check for cycles on the gauge. If...
The "hard top" also known as Arctic Enclosure came out with the first Reo deuces in 1951. Up until the 1980's, the enclosures were only issued to units in very cold climates. For some reason they became commonplace in the 1980's. Few deuces/5 tons/10 tons I have seen pictures of during...
Hooks has only sold M870's, M871's and a handful of M872's. There a few wrecker companies in the area that will pull your trailer off RRAD. You are looking at a second small fortune to get it carried the rest of the way.
Look for leaking wheel cylinders and bad rubber in the torque rod ends. Both are fixable with some work. Truck looks really good for it's age. Price is reasonable. Gets about 2-3 mpg but don't let that stop you . . .

To me "recommend buyer screen" is GL secret code (by a helpful site manager) for, "this thing is a POS and you will be disappointed if you think it is a creampuff".
That is the most rode hard, put up wet M172 25 tonner I have ever seen. For what it will take to straighten that one up, buy a nice one from GL for 3 grand. The deck over the gooseneck was added by a civilian.
The S/N is either on the data plate overhead when seated in the driver's postion (always missing), or on the front glasis plate near the headlight guard, I think the one on the passenger side but it might be the driver's. (stamped into the steel, about 1/2" numerals)
Make sure you put the 3 lever switch in service drive before using the push-pull switch. Next, check for 12 volts on pin F on the connector for the 3 lever switch. If good, check for voltage at the push-pull switch with the 3 lever switch in service drive. If none, you have a bad 3 lever...
