M936 Rear Winch Operations - Safety Question

Thanks Wes! I saw a post somewhere here on Steel Soldiers about a remote for a front winch. That really seems like a heck of a plan. That completely solves standing on that back corner! The boarding ladder might be good too. I definitely got tired of climbing up and down today...

M936 Rear Winch Operations - Safety Question

Thanks charlesmann . I suppose pulling from a very slight angle would help as well. Making the cable fly past if something does go wrong...

M936 Rear Winch Operations - Safety Question

My rear winch operates like a champ. Question is this: Standing about where the white shop towel is to operate it doesn't give you anywhere to hide (duck, get out of the way, call it what you will...) if something goes wrong. I have heard a winch cable flying through the air before and it is...

M936 Power Divider - Incredibly Stiff

Thank You! I grumbled at it again this morning. TC didn't want to go into low or high range. So I just played with the boom and winches.. Worked on the outriggers some more. I will give your suggestion a try when it cools down a little and report back. Power divider by the door...

    Greeting From Boston

Welcome! I joined this outfit about a month ago and there is a wealth of information here - and I have received LOTS of great answers to my questions from the members.

    M936 Exhaust Clamp?

Thank You!! I will report back what I find and will definitely give the "Parts Wanted" section a try.

    M936 Exhaust Clamp?

Thanks simp5782 . I will get my cutting tools and supplies gathered up. Looks like a good Saturday morning project. I will report back if I need the under cab pipe.

    M936 Exhaust Clamp?

I found a couple of parts at OshKosh. Both claim to fit M936. It may just be how I am looking at it (without taking off the guard) but my muffler seems to have the inlet in the center... I have not cut off the clamp yet to SEE which part is really the problem. Pictures below from...

    M936 Exhaust Clamp?

Guess I knew that because the more I looked at it, the worse it looked. After I turned it off, I used a business card and it freely passes through the gap. The more I "poked and prodded" the more it the worse it seems. Bummer but thanks for the info. Guess I will start looking for a fix for...

    M936 Exhaust Clamp?

It seems that I have a pretty good exhaust leak around the bottom of the muffler. Looks like stainless steel maybe makes that connection? Is there a flange that has just rusted away - or has vibration killed it? I have a picture... Doesn't look like there is a clamp on / for the bottom?

    M936 Passenger Seat Back (Frame)

It isn't as bad as some cars that I have seen, but there is a pretty good coating of white powder all over the bottom of it. Looks like the whole thing is held in place with either 4 or 6 bolts... I had forgotten how bad it looked in there. If you have the whole assembly it might be easier...

    M936 Passenger Seat Back (Frame)

Fantastic! Maybe on your next trip this way? No big hurry. Or you could ship it. However works best - and THANK YOU.

    M936 Passenger Seat Back (Frame)

My M936 has a Map Box behind what appears to be a new "companion seat" bottom and back cushion above the battery box. Maybe newly covered? Seems that the metal frame that holds the seat back in place is not in the truck. TM TM-9-2320-272-24P-2 on Page 370-1 shows a part number...

M936 Power Divider - Incredibly Stiff

Thanks! Feels good to know my truck isn't backward  . I started at the back of the truck with a grease gun. One tube of grease. I have replaced about 20 zerk fittings so far and ran out of grease. I will be hunting for another behind the seat... The Transfer Case lever is a little...

M936 Power Divider - Incredibly Stiff

Thank You. I still have a hard time understanding how "939 Series" is what these trucks are called. Most times numbers go up. Maybe a "930 Series" would have made more sense to me. Especially since my truck is a 936. I really appreciate the link to the proper TM's. I have them...

M936 Power Divider - Incredibly Stiff

My M936 seems to operate differently than the 9-2320-260-10 (Page 2-13) shows. Item 6 in that list says "lever is pushed forward" to provide power to auxiliary equipment. Looking at the picture in that TM, it is obviously a manual transmission and mine isn't. In my truck, that (power...

    Need a d4d cat moved.

As a recent reference (4/12/2020) Simp5782 moved my m936 from Ohio to North Carolina. He is definitely a first class operator and knows his stuff! My truck was a very heavy vehicle too.

M936 Boom Safety - No Check Valves?

Better than that.... Don't know WHY it didn't dawn on me before: Would you m35a2-az be willing to build a pair of those clam shell sleeves for me? Obviously not free... I have more than enough things to work on and fix. Today I got the 4th "screw jacks" unfrozen (picture below). Yesterday...

M936 Boom Safety - No Check Valves?

Absolutely! Your version even has a "lockout tagout" tab on it... I just have to make sure to avoid the soft metal where the seals live. That is definitely the way to go! I have made those in the past but they weren't nearly as nice. Mine were hack jobs with a big pipe and a torch. That...

M936 Boom Safety - No Check Valves?

Thanks Sir! I had found that "support for towing" last night in the TM. Little one line statement. Guess they figured the operator would have gone to school - or maybe have been ground crew on the machine. The testing specs seem reasonable. At least it is a measure of how bad it is or isn't.
