IDA34, this is not a CDL question. For a 5 ton tractor such as the 818 with trailer or a 915 with trailer grossing over 26K, the CDL is a forgone conclusion. As far as Texas DOT, there are no exemptions to "Motor Carrier Certificate of Registration", if you are over 26,000, you have to...
Dan you paid 5K for a B1 650 cc gas bike? Did you mean M1 diesel? Those two 1999 B1's here at GL Ft Sam sold for $670 for both two weeks ago only because my dumb a-- did not set a minimum bid high enough . . .
After much research, I think I have found the magic clause in the federal law that can exempt the heavy trucks (26,001+ lbs GVW) from compliance with DOT. I would like to get ya'lls opinion. I want ZERO problems at scales, random DOT compliance checks, etc . . . My area is CRAWLING with...
Irony aluminum is 10 cents a pound, the bed is about 500lbs, so basically not worth your gas to drive to the scrapyard. If they are not all smashed up, why don't you sell the beds to some people here that would be glad to have them?
Paid about $2K from GL about 4 years ago. 9000 original miles, super clean no rust, nothing but the genny and control box in the back, cab interior cannibalized. Still looking for that stupid vise and some of the governor controls that go on the 6.2.
I am running a 200 hp LDS in my 275 and with 36,000 of trailer behind, it is a hard pull. Turbo is spooled up all the time and diffs get good and hot. I run the truck at 2400 rpm and 55 mph. Without trailer, the truck will stay with a manual transmission Powerstroke up to 50 mph off the...
Here is a good source for transfer switches: electricgeneratorsdirect.com. I was sceptical at first of what I would be getting, but come to find out the "Reliance" brand is really Cutler-Hammer which is of course on par with Square D. This 100 amp outdoor unit cost $160 delivered. The main...
OK, I have been studying TM9-8025-2 on your behalf, that is the manual for the Hydramatic, and there is no troubleshooting assistance for your problem. The external line between the reduction case and the 4 speed is so that when push starting the truck, oil pressure from the reduction unit pump...
Does the engine rev to governed speed in high, but drive the truck normally in low? Or does the engine struggle (torque cconvertor stall) when in high range? If the latter, it is the cone being stuck as mentioned earlier in this thread, and I mentioned my unorthodox method of un-sticking it...
Sweet! The 221 is a tough truck to find in good shape. I brought home a totally rusted and worn out 221 used by both a school and then a power line contractor. The frame was the only part worth keeping and even it has the front wacked off.
My HMMWV body came from Ft Polk, someone had a bunch of them down this little dirt road, but that was 1994. Wonder if that was you oldmechanic. Vaguely remember turning off the road somewhere near where Tech Service is.
What kind of rude comment is that? El Paso is a great city. I know, I have been there many times and have some good friends there. Great climate, low cost of living and plenty of work.
