You are in luck, because lots of nice trucks come out of Camp Beuregard in Pineville, which is not that far from you. Go down there any weekday to bldg 494, tell the Sgt you want to preview the GL stuff, they will send you across the creek to look. Read threads on "M820" for someone's "drive...
Do a forum search for M1031. Lots has been written about this set up, especially how parts always seem to be missing from the generator control. You put the transfer in neutral, engage the PTO, and put the transmission in drive.
Memphis has never added "overdrive boxes" to Reos (G742). Are you looking at the transfer case? Memphis has done a wonderful job over the years turning tired, unwanted (until now) army trucks into useful tools for business. That meant tactical goodies ended up in the scrap bin . . . but...
MD means the M38A1 series of Jeeps made by Willys. My serial is 51130 and it is a 1953. The A1 started production in late 1952. The engine has been swapped, that is totally expected. Visit the "G503" web site for army jeep addicts.
Go to vintage power wagons.com All info is on the web site. The axles can have different ring gear diameters depending on year. The ratio is 5.38. They are made by Dodge.
Looks like a Memphis Equipment reconditioned truck. Cab top and windshield for sure. CCKW transmission (Clark 5 speed) and 2 speed transfer case from Banjo axle truck. Frame fishplated and a couple of feet cut off the end. If you were to restore it the only thing you would end up reusing...
Could be a Brockway B-666 of WWII vintage, but I don't think so. Looks more like a WWII International 2 1/2 ton with an Insley later model crane mounted to it. Can you get a better pic?
I'm kinda sure it is 3/8", with course threads 1/2" long on one end and fine thread 1/2" long on the other. I think you can use a stud that is usually available for exhaust manifolds. To install, it is super tight, I remember having to start the nut while holding the PTO about 1/4" away from...
OK, MKT club: Help me understand what you do with these besides collecting? Do you set them up at festivals and feed 100's? The MKT's are quite elaborate and well thought out I think.
Extremely sought after armor. Parts are not hard to find, even the missing Hercules JXD gas engine (Yes the same mfgr as "deuce"). Put that on ebay as is and it would bring $25K in my opinion. Owner probably has the missing parts inside, looks like a "lost interest" project.
That GMC looks nice, it does not have the usual rust in the sills under the door. The truck has been 12 volt-ized, not a big deal.
Dont you guys watch Ax Men on History Channel? Then you would know that machine is a logging "yarder" based on a Sherman "easy 8" tank.
