These hydraulic systems can be tricky to repair. I would find a hydraulic shop that works on stinger cranes and bucket trucks. They will be able to fix it fast. Here in Houston it's South Coast Hydraulics.
Yay!! Glad you did not give up. I have been having excellent luck using cold galvanizing spray paint on areas that will not need to be welded, and then to cover welds. Really controls rust well!
Welcome. The truck chassis is a GMC model CCKW 353, 2 1/2 ton 6x6. It could be a 1943,44, or 45. The Corps of Engineers used those whenever 185 cfm of compressed air was needed. I would attempt to sell it as is, running ads on ebay, Hemmings motor news, here, G503 website. It will be...

Very few shops understand setting up the wheel end spider gears properly. If you guess the gear lash, they will grind and rumble and self-destruct. The wheel ends have to come apart to change the front differential. Also, lately, the surplus high speed ring and pinion gears are dried up, you...
Ouch. Here is why this happened. People have been buying Humvees (also made by AM General) that are title branded "off road use", then "washing" the titles to remove the brand. Various states have figured this out, and have flagged anything made by AM General as off road only unless the owner...
