    920 miles in a CUCV 2 days!

Sound? Incredible. Weight? Ehhhh, starting to get porky. Cost per HP? Ouch. I guess I've just always found a well built small block to be more my taste :) If you like a big block? Go for it  I'll stick to a large displacement small block with the right fuel/spark system.

O.D. Green has the desease, 4 CUCVs

Wow, the red M1009's look slick lol

    920 miles in a CUCV 2 days!

Far better choice IMHO than throwing a big block in it... I've never been impressed with big blocks :cookoo:

    920 miles in a CUCV 2 days!

Ahhh, the vette powerplant must have been a nice addition :) I've been contemplating doing a lot of interior work to the M1009, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I believe I caught the suburban fever, and have been hunting for a 70's burban to do a frame up on. Of course she'd be...

    Fuel Economy

From what I've seen here in Cali, #2 certainly feels better when you stick your foot into her, but maybe only a .5-1mpg change in economy. The best increase I've had is from using RedLine's diesel additive. That is what took my average of 14.7mpg for my daily commutes, up to the 15.6 I have now...

    920 miles in a CUCV 2 days!

I've seen some people go as far to get a matress to fit back there, sadly though I usually have far too much stuff with me... Thankfully though I replaced the front seats with 1993 silverado seats [thumbzup]

    Fuel Economy

Hrm, I've babied mine on 80 through the flat of UT and NV and never broke 20... Maybe it is time to look into methanol injection.

    920 miles in a CUCV 2 days!

Rapid City South Dakota, to San Francisco California straight through with only naps on the side of the road the second day I owned my M1009 :) They're great for trips like that.

    Fuel Economy

I'd love to know how you guys get 20+!!! My record was 19, and my average is 15.5.

    Check your balencer

I guess I must be the minority having put on 20k+ in 7 months on mine, including two 1700 mile trips the first month I had her. Sure, there are some rotten apples out there, but to say that "most will not" get many miles out of them I believe to be quite incorrect.

Very positive way of looking at it

    CUCV...good idea for college student?

From what I've heard, some of these were only to drive the Major around, and some of them were beat to death. I would say most of them have mostly idle time on them though, so if you have 50k miles, it might have double or better the hours any other car would at 50k miles. I trust mine as a...

    Long term storage results.

Dump some additive in the tank. I recommend the Redline diesel stuff. Then again, I use that every fillup thanks to that ultra low sulfur crap diesel now aua

    CUCV...good idea for college student?

Now that I've owned a 6.2, the only other motor I'd throw in any of my trucks/blazers is the 6.5 Turbo Diesel. Do I miss my 383's spunk and get'up'ngo? Yes. Enough to go back to 11mpg, more complicated engine and wiring, less bottom end power, and less flexibility in fuel? Not a chance in...

M1009 - Problem removing rear axle.

Also, IRWFO, I've used WD-40 to cut down the 80-90w grease/oil some to make that pin guy slide out easier. Give that a shot. Anymore photos of your ride? Looks like you got a nice one :)

Gen 1 driver side not charging right

What is way up? It takes about 1100RPM for mine to kick in, which I believe is quite normal. As for the rest of it? Weird :cookoo:

CUCV for Search and Rescue in PA

Wow, didn't know TripLite made a unit that big, I'm going to have to look into that one then. Using like a battery disconnect switch for the jumping? GP's and the starter are 24v, but why some of us want an inverter, is to share a heavy electrical load across two batteries and two...

    CUCV...good idea for college student?

Try driving a M1009 around on the twisty, prius and pedestrian filled streets of San Francisco :driver: Get all sorts of funny looks :D
