I'm getting gear oil from a part mounted on the left rear frame. The part seems to be a CTIS "T" that must supply air to the rear tires/rear axle. Is there a check valve somewhere? Anyone come across this?
Has anyone found a source to replace the 2 piece style A3 wheel/rims with a one piece design? I have removed my CTIS, replaced the wheel/rim o-rings and valve stems but still lose air.
I am looking for a A3 fan hub switch. It's the switching device that turns the cooling fan on when the engine reaches 200 degrees. It screws into the thermostat housing and has 2 air lines attached to it. I looked in the tech manuals for a NSN with no luck.
thanks
FYI
I knew this was coming- I had a allison 1545 auto trans out of a A3 go bad. Fluid smelled burnt and was dark. I took it to the transmission guy and he said the front pump was toast, he eventually found a new front pump for $700.
He said parts for the 1545's are going to be hard to find...
The TireBoss system is a great idea but those air lines sticking out will get torn off! It's amazing what a little, or lack of, air pressure can do.
I think the wheel seal/o-ring design of the A3 is a huge improvement though. I don't see a way gear oil could ever contaminate the brake shoes...
After you solve your shutoff solenoid problem - You should have a dribble to a small squirt(depending on how loose the nut is) coming from the loosened injector lines at the injector.
Chains will make the most difference. The weight thing only helps to a point, but even if you had 9K lbs in the back you still need some way to apply that weight to the pavement efficiently - chains or skinny small tires with large tire tread lugs.
Example: We had one of our M35A2 fire...
In your situation and like ours, you are better off disconnecting it and removing it. It takes some work but is worth it.
If you are like our departments these trucks don't get driven everyday, everyweek or sometimes every month like they should. You likely to have flat tires when you get...
I have had experience with both A2 and A3's in the snow/mud/sand. The A3's are very impressive.
Not my best technical terms but - Duals do worse in the snow, mud, sand etc. because their is more surface area contacting the ground for slippage. Taller skinny tires do best.
Which Cummins is better, the NHC-250 or the 8.3CTA?
I agree the 5 tons would be better but we've been putting 900-1000 gallon water tanks on M35 trucks for 30 years(we even had M211's way back in the day). Never had bad wheel bearings, worn brake shoes or bent/damages axles. The most common...
