While the M151 and A1s are well-known for their roll-overs due to the suspension issues, was there anything/anyway in which they fared better than the A2s? Do the owners of the A2s in this group wish their A2s had a feature or two which the 151 and A1s had but no longer continued in A2?
Were there any differences among the M151A2s according to their production years i.e., did the early A2s differ in anyway from the late A2s - visibly or otherwise? If data plates do not exist and documents do not indicate the production date, is there any other way one could estimate the...
I came across this M-37 for sale here in Italy. I have not succeeded in contacting the seller and hence do not have much info. The sale ad says the engine turns and there is no body rust.
The star with circle obviously does not belong to the era of the vehicle. Do the letters and numbers on the...
Hi All,
I have posted a pix of an M151 (The sale ad says it is an M151A1) which has come up for sale here in Italy. While I agree that side lights/turn indicators are as per European requirement, I am a bit confused by the absence of the original small lights on the fender - if it really is an...
Hi All,
I am interested in a M151A2 which is for sale here, in Italy. I have posted some pix. I had one of the rare 1984 M151A2s which was produced for foreign military sale and shipped to Sudan - among a few other countries.
This one looks a bit different than the other M151A2s I have seen...
This MB I am looking at, has some oil leakages on the underside of the vehicle. I have posted some pix here. Would be much helpful if you let me know how bad it could be and what may be required to fix it. Thanks guys!

Rome, Italy.
I came across this jeep for sale here in Italy. I thought at first it was a CJ-5 but then I noticed the battery box on the cowl which did not make sense. Also, there is a DC outlet behind the driver's seat (Photo attachment 6). Could this be a CJ-5 in M38A1's guise? It does not look like the...
Hi All,
I came across this M38A1 for sale in northern Italy. It is a 1961 and could be a Dutch assembled Nekaf. Its chassis number is MD67341.
Can anyone tell me if this number corresponds to the year of manufacture (1961)? I have posted some pix of the jeep for you guys to view and comment so...
Hi All,
What would be the best engine (diesel or a gasoline) to replace the original engine of a M1038 with minimum modifications? The current 6.2 liter motor is dead. It is not easy to find another HMMWV engine or its spare here in Italy. Please help!
Hi Guys,
I have posted some pix of HMMWVs assembled in Greece by Hellenic Vehicle Industry S.A.
Some models differ slightly in appearance from the ones made in the U.S. Hope the pix are not too small!
Hi guys,
Tomorrow, I am off to check out this M998 for sale in the north of Italy.:D Pix below.
A few questions:
1. Is the color original? The green looks too light to me.
2. The spot light on the hood. Must be an after-market one?
3. The tail lights look different than the original ones...
Hi All,
I have posted below, a few pix of the Ford GPW that is for sale here in Italy. The seller claims it is a 1943 ex-USN. The markings on the vehicle were obviously done by a local painter. There are a few things on the jeep that do appear to be add-ons..... like the small lamp at the front...
I am checking out an MB for sale here in Rome. I have attached four pix. There are a few extras that are on the vehicle - like the eye lashes on the headlights and the jack on the bumper. Also, there is something to the left of data plate on the dash and a ring on the jerry can at the back...

Here is an ad for a 1988 Helmet Head HMMWV M1038 for sale in he Netherlands. According to its seller, it is a non-runner, it is registered and is street legal, the engine needs to be fixed or replaced and the transmission needs overhauling and some of the parts have been removed to be...

Here is a pix of my rare 1984 M151A2 that I owned from 2000 to 2005 while I was working in the Sudan. Though AM General had stopped production of M151A2s when they started producing the HMMWVs, 700 M151A2s were produced in the Indiana plant (which had already closed) for export out of which...
Hi, I will soon be checking out a 1986 four-man Humvee on sale here in Italy. The asking price in Euro is equivalent to about USD 30k. I have always owned Jeeps, MUTTs and classic cars but never a Humvee. Besides the usual checks that one performs while buying a used vehicle, what specific...
Hi All,
Currently I live in Italy and will be returning to the U.S. after a few years when I retire. Here ex- NATO or U.S. import HMMWVs are classified as street legal. I would like to buy one here and ship it to the U.S. when I return.
Is importation of HMMWV allowed by the U.S.? Though it...
