    M35 Brakes weak

I can't answer for him and I've never driven it. I drive a M151 and it has no stopping problems. I will however have him read this post.

    M35 Brakes weak

Has anyone found a cure for the anemic air-over-hydraulics brakes on the M35A2? My son has one he has converted into a motorhome and he really likes using it as such. However, due to the wimpy brakes, he's considering selling it. Is there a way to fix the brakes so you don't need a half mile to...

    Tower Park MV gathering

I went to the "Tower Park" replacement gathering this weekend, 4-22 and 4-23. I must say, I really feel sorry for the vendors. The campground was beautiful, as a campground. As a MV gathering venue, it sucked. All the vendors were scattered all over the place, most had packed up and gone home. I...

    Tower Park

My son and I are planning on going to Tower Park in April and if somebody wants the A-1 windshield frame I've got, I'll bring it along. There's no glass or any hardware. I was going to use it on my A-1 but I found another. This one is in primer, I got most of the dents out of it before I primed...

Assistance needed with a short or who knows what

Ok, we found out if we left the light switch in the "OFF" position, toggles in neutral and the Chevy light switch pushed in, the horn didn't honk. With the key on, as soon as you turn on the lights, the horn honked. We replaced the horn relay, no change. We pulled the fuse for the horns, turned...

Assistance needed with a short or who knows what

My son has an '86 Chevy K-5 Blazer (CUCV), V-8 diesel, 24volt system. He had what we thought was a grounding problem as there were sparks showing up when he cranked the starter. Come to find out the starter was bad, the grounding strap from the solenoid to the starter body was not making good...

    "Isolated Ground".

I've got a question regarding the electrical system on a CUCV. My son's CUCV wouldn't start, it would turn over but wouldn't fire up. We replaced the fuel filter and all eight glow plugs, recharged the batteries and cleaned the terminals. All of this seemed to fix the problem because it fired...

    Yet another steering wheel question.

Yet another steering wheel question. Solved I have read through the forum and found out that an A-2 steering wheel will fit an A-1 but not vice-versa. My problem is a little more basic, (read smaller). When I bought my 151A-1, I drove it home, about 100 miles, no problems. Now that I'm taking...

    Wiring and Wiring Harness

Sounds to me like I ought to be looking for a harness for an A-1 and forget the A-2.

    Wiring and Wiring Harness

Can someone tell me the difference between a wiring harness for an A-1 and an A-2? I have a M-151A1 that I'm going to eventually need to install a new wiring harness. Do I have to get one for an A-1 or will an A-2 harness work ok? :?

    New question on Mutt repairing

Does anyone have the pattern for the rear panel that goes from taillight to taillight. The pintle bolts through it and I'm hoping these pictures better explain what I need. There's a guy on ebay selling these but I think I could make one if I could get the pattern. Failing that, anyone know...

    Hood Hinge Question

Well, thanks to hambone's pictures, I now know for certain that all six hinge bolts are bolt, washers and nuts. And I am planning on replacing any and all nuts, bolts and washers I remove with stainless. Costs a bit more but definitely worth it!

    Hood Hinge Question

Yeah, I was figuring I'd have to pull the instrument panel. That's ok anyhow, it needs to be repainted too. Thanks for the info.

    Hood Hinge Question

I pulled the hood off my 151 and started the clean-up/restoration. Got a simple question for someone who's pulled their hood off. I know the 1/4-20 bolts on the front/hood side of the hinges are a bolt, washer & nut. How about the ones on the windshield side. Are the nuts tack welded onto the...

    M 151 A1 Vehicle Identification Number

The Guru got back to me and I may have my problems all solved, thanks to him. He identified my Mutt as having been delivered in Sept or Oct of 1969 AND he told me the BUDD # IS a VIN. Planning on visiting DMV to see if things are now sorted out. I'll let you know.

    M 151 A1 Vehicle Identification Number

I will check the firewall. There's nothing else there. The hood has no numbers on it, it fact the hood paint is mostly gone. Thanks for the help.

    M 151 A1 Vehicle Identification Number

Does anyone know if there is a Vehicle Identification Number stamped on the body somewhere? I'm trying to register my jeep that I just bought but I'm having a couple of problems. It has been registered here in California already but it's been on a "Non-Op" for several years. When I went to get...

    Fixin' a door handle.

Thank you both. Being as how I've never worked on ANY military vehicles, this will help. Again, thank you.

    Fixin' a door handle.

My son and I are fixing up his M-109(?) Shop Van. Since it's sitting in my driveway, I can work on it more than he can and I'm retired. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to get the door latch and handle out of the driver's-side door. I realize if I take all the screws out it should drop...
