My step-brother flew into the local airport shortly after I bought my deuce so I drove it out to pick him up. Only issue was a few cop cars give it the "eye" as they drove by but otherwise no issues! It was a small local airport though. He said the deuce was easy to spot from the air!!
I named mine "The Hulk".
It gets called "The Deuce" most of the time.
And it unfortunately earned the nickname "Bonecrusher" after an unfortunate accident(everyone survived).
Mine is insured through USAA underwritten by Progressive. Both parties are well aware of the vehicle and everyone guarantees me 100% it is insured(talked to about 10 people at different levels in each company). No restrictions on usage either. 30$/mo is a bit high, but still cheaper than my...
I'm not in the camp of ditch the vehicles.
If you can afford to hang on to them, then do so. You will lose money by selling now and buying one in equal condition when you are back on your feet. Therefore you somewhat save money by keeping them. However insurance has to be factored in there as...
I dont think the camping trip is the best idea really.
For 300/mo you should be able to find a room for rent, even a basement with private access. Sure you may not like people(neither do I) but that is certainly smarter than sleeping in you deuce for 4 months. Not to mention all the money you...
Sounds good! I know alot of guys switch over to Dot 3 when they do a complete brake system overhaul.
I have a line on cheap DOT 5, 30$/gal so I will be sticking with it.
I'm sure you already know as you seem quite versed in the subject, but the brake fluid systems were originally DOT 5. And DOT 3 and 5 do NOT mix or even play nice at all.
Well I visited home(deuce is parked on family property 4hrs from where I live) and drove by the deuce a few times. I didnt want to be anywhere near that sun-soaked green iron!
Maybe temps will cool off in a few weeks and I can do some more work on the truck.
Well, being that I dont keep my deuce where I live, all I did for it this week was make a big list of things that need fixed, bought, upgraded, and modified!
+1 Put the parking brake on, lock the front axle, and see if it holds the truck. If so then I would believe the T-Case is good and you have a busted rear-end.
Have you physically looked under the truck at all? Visibly check the drivetrain and report back any mangled pieces.
If nothing can be spotted then I would suspect an internal t-case failure.
Looks like a heck of a project, but not really that far gone!
What color is that paint? It seems done correctly as the dash date plates are on the outside of the paint, but in my limited(very) experience on here I havent seen that color yet.
Aha! So for the actual adjustment it doesnt matter, it is when you go to snug the outer nut down that you want to hold the inside securely to prevent the shaft turning. Right?
I did hold the shaft with a pair of snubnose pliers to try and prevent it turning.
Another question, how far can you...
All fair points. Have you driven a deuce around? The first time I drove mine when I got it home, I pulled out into the field to turn it around and head back out the drive way and ended up doing a 3-point turn IN THE FIELD.
Deuce certainly has a noticeable presence, but I wouldnt want one as a...
Why not a basic half-ton pickup and a trailer that fits the bill?
I would not want to be hulking kegs up into a deuce, I have enough trouble getting myself up into it!! :grd:
It would make sense that the mods prefer useful posts rather than the large amount of garbage that is spewed, my apologies for wanting to improve the site.
He told me to read the stickied thread that ive scoured 100 times already.
Thank you, if i remove those bolts to remove the cover will I need to do anything but put the bolts back?
Before you try teaching a man to fish, perhaps you should learn to read. My OP clearly stated that I have searched and came up with no conclusive results.
This site is the absolute worst for telling people to search instead of posting useful information that contributes to a thread.
I've read the stickied thread and all the others that I could find, but i'm not finding any pictures that really help.
I have a pyro installed, and have baseline temps, but cant find the fuel rate adjustment on my pump. I think it might be under this cover, but dont want to remove anything...
