M1009 hard power steering and mushy brakes

I'm having the same problem with my M1009 after a day of pretty hard wheeling in it. By that I mean the entire truck is covered in an even, heavy coat of sugar creek mud. I'm guessing the power steering pump went bad but I'm unsure. I was wondering if there has been any fixes to this problem...

    Spin on fuel filter mod

My stock fuel filter housing is dumping out massive amounts of fuel so it's time to upgrade to a spin on filter. I've already pulled out the pressure sensor, tapped it, and pipe doped a screw to go in it but it turns out it's leaking from the back. I've already made a plan to use the NAPA 4770...

Need to know this problem and how to fix it TODAY!

Ahh, so I guess that my pump is in fact not suited for my application being as it isn't meant to suck the fuel from the tank?

Need to know this problem and how to fix it TODAY!

I will, thank you doghead. I didn't think to google the pump and look it up. It was installed incorrectly though being as its as far from the tank as I think it can be. Hopefully all I'll have to do is re-run the hose from the hard line coming from the tank and directly attach it ti my filter...

He told me the mechanical when out and it was just easier to replace it with an electric than replace...

Need to know this problem and how to fix it TODAY!

Yeah, I'm going to give it a try but at the moment I'm calling around trying to find the best price on an electric lift pump and am about to head out to drain my tank. I just found out this weekend that it's actually a transfer pump on there so haven't had much time to locate a better replacement.

Need to know this problem and how to fix it TODAY!

Is the lock up solenoid something that can be replaced with the trans still in the truck? I'll be honest, I'm a little nervous about opening up an automatic transmission.

Need to know this problem and how to fix it TODAY!

Yeah, I was afraid that was the problem. It's strange because I've been running this fuel for 2 years now, but my truck has been sitting up for about 7 months being as I had to rebuild the front end, batteries, alternators, starter, and fixing the radiator. So in that time I guess I could've...

Need to know this problem and how to fix it TODAY!

I'm sorry everyone, I know posting something as urgent as this may be frowned upon but my situation it very critical (to me anyway). I was driving from Memphis to Oxford MS to work this morning and blew the transmission up in my Z71. So I'm needing to get my M1009 on the road immediately but I'm...

My newly aquired 86 CUCV M1009 transmission is going out.

Check your trans fluid, if it seems dirty or "burnt" then you have some bigger issues. If not then you may have a smaller problem. Like Skinny said, it sounds like your reverse clutch is going bad but if you check your vacuum system and all is good your pump inside the transmission could be...

**Fixed*** Blazer dead. Starter needed asap

you can still get home. Leave the relay hanging, after it satrs pull the relay out of the harness and you'll be good. I had to do that going home from work a year ago before I did the relay mod.

What muffler will make the 6.2 sound like a diesel

I've been thinging about cherry bomb glass packs. Anyone else done this? Every gas burner I've owned I've ran straight pipe, I'd love to that with this truck too but I'm afraid there would be too little back pressure. I just like it loud enough to hardly hear the radio up, but I also don't want...

    Wont Start

    Wont Start

Diesel Care & Performance Inc. The doghead relay modification gets rid of the starter relay you currently have under your dash and replaces it with a much more reliable one. The original relay's poles stuck closed and ruined my starter in my M1009 one night so after buying a new starter I foud...

    Wont Start

Locally there is a diesel shop that sells these starters for $103 and some change. They can be found on Ebay. I bought one about a year ago and haven't had any trouble since. I'd go ahead and do the Doghead relay modification wile you're at it, I did it at the same time I relpaced the starter...

    M1009/M1008 Coolant Reservoir/Tank

Thank you, saved me a lot of time. I planned on pulling mine soon, finding the crack, and sealing it but this is a much better alternative.

    1984 M1009 spedometer broke

There is also a compensator (or supposed to be anyway) between the end of your speedo cable and where it plugs into the Tcase. These are prone to failure so if everything is connected proberly and youre not getting any binding of the cable then remove the compensator and plug the speedo cable...
