Well I’m going to blame a random vibration on a bad drive shaft. I did the test and I found some movement with the dial indicator. I will be taking it to a dive line shop tomorrow for further inspection and see what they say. The other day I got .02” movement in the splines, but today I only...
In another post there was much discussion and theories on what was really going on. In that post I volunteered to take some measurements when I had my axles apart. Ok here are the results for the stock center section gearing.
test conditions, one tire on the ground to ensure the one wheel...
Got these rims today and don't know what their for. They are not normal mrap rims, the stud hole have tapers for centering on the nuts, and not centered on the hub like a normal mrap. One of the stud holes is larger in diameter and is drilled to the ctis valve. Hole diameter is the same as a...
I picked up a locker for the rear of my truck from Bryce. Found a meritor center section takeapart and put back together manual online. Not for our axles but similar construction. Have it installed and put back together, now just need to finish setting the lash.

I currently have a rim a rim split and a tire ready to go on. Also re installing the Beadlocks as well. It's not the runflat type beadlocks, rather the metal hoop with rubber edges.

I have to replace my ctis seals on one of my front hubs. A couple of questions for the group.
What gear oil to use? I know 75-90w but which synthetic have you found to run cooler?
Any tips from those that have done this? How much swearing will be done?
So today, a Big day for the M1078 as i finally got plates for it, I took it to the streets for a test drive. When I got home I found a few things to take care of. The air compressor unit its self is leaking oil, I also found oil dripping from one of the vent lines in in the frame rail. and...
When i got my truck, the over-pressure relief valve on the top of the air dryer was broken, not allowing the system to build pressure. Taking it all apart to see how it works, i also found that the desiccant had leaked over the inside. Not able to find parts to repair it, I decided to take the...
