And the last for Friday, at least for the engine swap

093: Getting ready for lifting the engine out, with Swiss (left) watching
094: A really amazing and professionally working team: Ron and Robert coordinating the engine lift-off.
095: Lifting a bit, pulling forward, tilting, lifting some more; millimeter work (1 mm is 3/64 of an inch!) getting the engine out. After this, flipping a sandwich is kid's stuff and a sucker bet.

096: Where's me engine????? Andy testing for echo's after the engine had been taken out.
097: The deuce minus one engine
098: The table with all the parts and bits and bolts in the proper order and well-described. In the back left still Coffey1's tan M923, and dominant in the foreground behind the table is the deuce of Special Ops Sgt Robert (rmtaunton).
099: Andy cleaning up for the day ...

100: A JOB WELL DONE; Spec. Ops. Sgt. Robert enjoying a well-deserved drink behind the HQ tent: enough is enough, at least for this moment. Time to call it a day!

Land Rover

Time for some exotic stuff; the British compound. Actually, that group of Land Rovers had one small Jeep hiding amongst them. I think that the main ham area coincided with the Land Rover camp.

OK, thanks to Mike "Whiterabbit", an update on types and owners. I deleted my "what is this" remarks; his comments are mentioned here now.
101: 1978 Land Rover 109, Series III,GS, “General Service”12V. Previously owned by the R.A.F. and then the U.N.
Behind it a 1972 AM General M151A2 1/4tn “jeep”. Previously owned by 20[SUP]th[/SUP] Special Forces Group, now my wife’s little run around jeep. Also a display for the "Fort Stewart Roller Girls" roller derby league. Both owned/restored/maintained and cussed at by Mike “Whiterabbit”
102: Land Rover 101 Forward Control brought down by scottgs’s friend from Tennessee.
103: The M151A2 and my 109 at base camp.
104: 1980’s Land Rover 109, Series III, FFR, “Fitted For Radio” 24V. Previously owned by Dutch Military, now owned by Matt and Angie “LR109MAL” from Alabama.
105: Matt and Angie staging for a run.

For pic 105, the German number shield had me puzzled; I almost started speaking German. The driver (Matt) saw the confusion and corrected me. Pure unadulterated American. FIY, the German number shields indicate the town or county location. HO designates the county of Hof, a municipality close to the most western tip of the Czech Republic.

Anyone ever find a good video of the Hardball Convoy?
I have some good footage but I need to edit it. My editor doesn't work with QuickTime and the footage was shot with QT. I either need a free editor that can work with QT or a free converter that can convert QT over to something like mp4, flash, wmv, etc.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Ok, this is the video that the GL representative shot. I really want to thank him and GL for releasing this footage to us at no cost. This is the only video that was shot of the convoy other than Robo McDuff's.

Sorry this took so long-the GL guy was shooting in QuickTime, a format my video converter and editing software don't mesh with. Finally got a good suggestion on some freeware to covert it into a workable format and did it last night and this morning.

Enjoy!

Life got in the way, but the dust has settled down a bit and I will try to get all pics uploaded before the start of the next rally.
But first, here is the Official 2014 GA Rally Hardball Convoy video. I tried to make a clickable image to start, but that does not work. Drew?

.hardball convoy 2014.jpg.

It is not a youtube video, so embedding did not work. It is a not very high quality mp4 format, For those who really want it I can provide a link to a 1080p 500 Mb version. If your browser has a problem with starting, try the link to our museum website, with all possible formats including for other devices. More info later this week, for now, enjoy.
