Oil seal mod. for 3053 input shaft

The good thing is that our input shaft doesn't have to be touched, where the seal lip gets to ride on.
The bad is that the stock retainer simply doesn't admit any such mods, to make room for an adequately sized seal (typically 2.0"×1.5"×0.25").

They are pulling me apart on the FMTV board, i can not do everything that everyone asks for.

Gerhard and I talked about this at the GA. rally. This is what i have at this moment. 100% welded to the ID bore, to be fully machined out by next week end. Who is on board?

I ordered the 4 seals today, with the seal installed looks like $220.00 ea. I went with seal # 481163

That's cheaper by far than I could have gotten them made for, IF I could have ever gotten things to pan out and gotten more made.

That's a pretty cool idea and at only $178.00 a great deal ! I wonder if they can build our housings and grind our shafts for that price ? Think I'll call them tomorrow.

Called "Novak" today and they said they would not do a project with this limited amount of interest. I guess we in the MV world don't count for much ! Hopefully Steve will be successful in getting a working unit out for us.

OK, step one: Cut the 5" shaft and the 2" DOM, machine joint and weld. Step two: machine out the back side. Step three : will be machine out the front side. Step four: Drill the four holes and machine the oil slot.

Step three has been done, now on to the finial step.

Ok, finial pic's. I spot faced the bolt holes and installed the seals. The first one goes out Monday for silverstate55.
