Anyway to make it look right on a CRT (old school monitor)?
Here's a couple shots of what I see
1. upgrade your browser.
2. Max out your resolution.
3. Hold down the ctrl button while you use the mouse scroll to zoom out from the page.

Looks great! The only issue I noticed was in the ALT Fuels section one thread had a poll, the text color and the back ground color was so close I couldn't read it. Oh and looks like I got a promotion too!

LOVE the new layout, you guys did a great job! The little light buckets next to usernames to show who is online/offline is especially cool!

This upgrade killed all your Google results. However, for the time being it can be still useful if you just remove the part of the old URL that had the category and replace it with showthread.php?

Yes, we decided to ditch vbSEO this time around since it's what allowed the hacking incident in the past. There was far too many hacks running previously. Each one opens the door further for exploits. This time around we're trying to keep the hacks to a bare minimum.

Just a tad different. Different is good, right? "Change in itself isn't painful, it is the resistance to change that hurts like a S.O.B." Thanks for ALL the hard work, now I've got to adapt, modify, and survive, correct? LOL
God bless,
Tony

OK, so I held off for at least 12 hours now, holding back any kind of emotion in the new format. Just one comment on colors;

The colors suck. :3dAngus::3dAngus: No, really, I mean it, they take the site back. It is impossible to improve upon perfection. The old site was perfect, or near perfect, where the only imperfection was in an edit mode where it was difficult to see a edit button. I wrote up a software changed request to improve it but it went unnoticed. No problem.

Colors on a new web are like an artists painting. It is a webmasters work, and not necessarily Andrews. I'm sure it was negotiated and it was agreed something different could be tried. Unfortunately, it is causing to many problems and with aging eyes, all kinds of different problems are going to pop up. We all see things differently, and we don't all see the same thing, even when looking at the same thing at the same time. I can tell you stories about changing eyes. I have a history, but fortunately, a darn good opthalmologists and optometrists as well.
In any case, an artists signs his paintings, and a webmaster changes colors and backgrounds and it becomes his heritage. It is good to try new things.

I am recommending consideration be given to change the colors back to the olive green and original layout for ease of use and comfort zone of users.

Comments based on the concept, "Change Can Be Good".

Ok, an update...

I've tossed up the temp chatroom in the menu. This is only temp until we get a locally hosted chatroom running again. I know many of you chat each night.

The poll colors and thread colors should be taken care of now.

There will be another short downtime in the future (possibly late tonight) to reindex the searches to facility 3 character searches.

Not trying to pick a fight, but the old sites color pallet was perfect? I've only heard the opposite in the past.

One thing at a time. We're trying to give the site a much needed facelift. The old design was long in the tooth. We're also working on a high contrast skin for users that can't deal with the green pallet.

You would know much better than I. I have never heard of a color scheme problem prior, but do know it worked better for my eyes, and added a character and tone to the board that is more in character with the green machines.

No, never a need for a fight. Just expressing my opinion. I think I'll stick with it, but can adapt to any change you guys care to make. No problem. Don't take it as comments that can't be lived with. Just an opinion.

IMHO, The other site was much more readable and totally unique, something which gave SS it's character, and one we could identify as all it's own. This color scheme just blends in with the noise of the internet.

This is great. Feels like a fresh pair underwear. But I am not a fan of the grey. The sink idea is cool. That way we can all pick something we like or can see. I also like this auto save feature that I see as I type. Good work ladies!

I'll admit I liked the green but I will survive whatever you feel will be best. The only thing I can say is to keep the contrast up for the text. Darker background might be better, a couple people I know are red colorblind and for them red / reddish colors show up as grayish.
As for anything else, it reminds me of when a girlefriend of mine showed me a new hairstyle. My answer was "No opinion." She wanted to know why? I told her, "It might take some time to form an opinion on the change in packaging, it would not affect how I felt about the contents." She told me, "Good answer."

First of all Patracy - I know this took lots of manhours to achieve - I know there is chit behind the scene most men alive would not understand is happening for our safety and security.

Not bitch from me - I love changes and just have to learn how to deal with the change in front of me. I am not a avid traveler of SS for all its uses and special things that are here - just a basic user to

BS with folks and put in project pics (nothing happening MV related so it gives you all a major break having to look at my pics).

Many thanks to all involved for the time and $$$$ put into this - it surely could not have been easy.

I would state more - but I gotta go figure this all out.

Here is one issue that I'm having...

Also, why do unread messages have an open envelope icon, and read messages have a closed envelope? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

No sir, I don't like it.

I really appreciate all the time, money and hard work that went into the change. And I totally understand the need to upgrade, been here for 3 major 'turnovers', it was time for another.

I'm sure I'll get used to it, but for right now, I find it cumbersome and bulky.
